Yes. It def has the potential.

So much depth (even has a selection sunday show) and it gets deeper once you expand it with DDS Pro Basketball 2.

Thats for putting me on this game

    Note*

it was nice to see Jeremy Lin (with a good enough rating to get drafted in the 2nd round) in my demo run of Pro Basketball 2 after I opted to start the season before the 2010 draft.

Nice to see real players in that game.

Take a look at Crossover XI. Just came out, works great for some games--also you won't need a copy of Windows for your Mac.

Don’t buy a Windows license, don’t reboot or use a virtual machine until you try CrossOver for Mac and Linux. Download a free 14 day trial now and get your Windows apps running on Mac and Linux.

PS -- I used a previous version of Crossover and played several graphic-heavy games and it worked just fine.

Has anyone tried the D-II challenge? That sounds like it would be fun and torturous all at the same time.

I couldnt seem to find that (or start out as an assistant) in the demo.

            Both sounds intriguing tho.

Re: Any news at all regarding a new college game?

I just started playing 2K8 again after playing NCAA '10 for a while. I've noticed that which both sides do well, and it really makes me wish someone would just take the burden and release a new college game.

2K's game is definitely more refined, especially in the Legacy mode. The recruiting is much deeper, but I find there to be issues in landing better recruits even when you control a high-caliber team such as UNC. That was really my only complaint about 2K. Obviously now it is extremely out of date.

I like how EA had the two separate commentary teams with legit presentations (ESPN and CBS). To me the CBS-style presentation, especially when it comes to the tourney, is required for immersion. 2K's presentation was not quite as good, but it did most everything else better. I've always found it odd because EA almost never handles the presentation aspects of their games well, but they did with NCAA '10.

2K's selection show is much, much stronger though. EA's version is extremely dulled-down in comparison--just some text graphics and zero analysis from the commentators. In today's game, I believe 2K could knock this part of the game out of the park. 2K also did a better job in terms of crowd presence and customization, and one of the biggest drawbacks of the EA game is the weird freezing/hiccup glitch.

I think 2K's expertise in BBall would lend to a better game overall, but honestly EA had a good start with '10 if only they had kept expanding on it. Deepen the legacy, fix some issues, and improve on the other presentation issues like the selection show and the game could definitely compete.

So the crux of my post is simply to beg someone PLEASE bring back college basketball! Just release it every other year like 2K does with Top Spin since sales don't support a yearly commitment. Plus the longer cycle allows for heavier improvements between iterations.

I think EA Sports will create a NCAA Basketball game if NBA Live 13 is a soild release this year.

Just bout it today. Thanks for the code. Dropped the price to about $28, which is half the price of a new XBOX 360 game. A game like this will last for years, so I saw it as a no-brainer, especially if I really enjoy it.

I'm looking to dive into it this weekend to get a hang of it. I'm thinking about starting out as an assistant coach being responsible for only recruiting once I get the hang of it, but we'll see.

I've read a couple of the legacies on the official forums. The promotion/relegation mode seems very interesting, but you lose all geographical association when it comes to conferences. Feel like that would take away from some recruiting battles as well.

This will be my first time every diving deep into a text sim, so I'm not exactly a reliable source on impressions. I'll be sure to keep you guys updated. I may end up documenting my career as a coach here on the OS forums.

As of right now, I'm just tinkering with the game and learning the intricacies of it. Once I get a decent handle on most of it, I'll start up my official career.

This is for anyone playing DDS:CBB2

When it comes to recruiting, should I even be targeting players who have no interest in my school? I am just playing around with it now and I"m the head coach at New Hampshire. Nationally, I only have six total players interested in my school: four from NH, one from ME and one from MA.

Is it worth my time recruiting kids who, as of now, have no interest in my school? Usually with those kids, I pick up the phone to talk and they tell me to just hang up.

I was the main site for DDS games were still active. Its like those guys just disappeared from the face of the earth.

Are there any other communities for those game?

I am willing to deck the game out on a ongoing yearly basis (since This will be my only college BB option as of now. I think I should work on a base roster) with real players, coaches and even add pics for them. Only problem I have is that I dont understand how the ratings and tendencies work.

Try to send a PM to one of the mods on the Wolverine site, they can point you in the right direction.

Yea I don't really think it would be that hard especially since I will being editing in a database editor instead of in game like I would do for a console game.

I def could use some help to make the process faster though.

Before I start anything I will like to see how the ratings translate into stats (kenpom.com is a great site for detailed college hoops stats)

I am also having trouble with adding/changing pics for the players and coaches. Unlike the Pro Basketball game, CB2 randomize players each time you start.

The frustrating part is that adding pics is as easy as naming the jpg files as the player's name then putting it into the correct folder and it works. (Firstname_Lastname.jpg)

So unless I can somehow fix this I am not really sure if I should continue. It will be weird looking at Anthony Davis with a Dark skin generated pic
