Re: So is there something that online guys are abusing?

What the hell. Am I the only one playing some good games online? My record so far is 6-7 and yes I have ran into cheese but its nothing I cant handle and sometimes the cheesing is basically how they lose.

Dallas and the Lakers?? I've only played LA once, never played Dallas yet. Suprisingly, the most popular teams are Cavs and Denver. I guess ppl see me pick the Bulls and they know I'm playing serious ball. I've played the Spurs twice, the Sonics twice, Denver and Clevland twice and I have'nt played Dallas, Minn, Orlando, NJ, or the Kings. Its been sorta good variety of teams played and I've made a few friends in the process.

Its been 2 forms of cheese I've seen so far. 1 is the shot/pass. I played 1 guy(yes, 1 guy) that did it 8 to 10 times per possesion. Everytime he thouhgt I was gonna block it, he passed. After a while, I stoped jumping, and he still passed. It got him the victory also but it was'nt just because of his cheesing, but because my usual leading scorer shot 6-19 that game and we as a team shot 41% to his 52.

The 2nd is abusing a star player. I've plyed a few ppl who just give the ball to their scorer and then they'll cross, spin, juke and all till they get to the hole for a dunk. Or he'd throw up garbage like fadeaway 3 pointers and leaning jumpshots and hit the bullsh!t. One time it was Kobe, the other time it was Ray Allen. I was pissed off but I kept playing my game. Double teaming did'nt help cause he'll just shoot some crap and hit anyway.

But out of my 10+ games, I've played some good players. Some sounded like little kids. Some were older, and some who just rented the gaame. I've seen a few ppl call and run plays, some who do defensive adjustments, some who play real ball. So I dont know what some of you guys are talking bout. After playing NBA 2K3 online, ID online is a sigh of relief.

And everyone starts off as Newbies. I have'nt fgured out how to go to the next level yet.

            that's cool Graphik.

i'm not going to quit playing, i like the game a lot.

I was just ranting 'cause it sucks when someone starts pushing your azz to the ground everytime you touch the ball as HE had the lead when he was intentionally fouling me.

He was hoping to hold me off by me missing the free throws with his vibrator bumping and keeping me from PLAYING the game.

WHY would anyone get satisfaction out of winning a game that way.

            I just don't get it?

I mean it's not like he won a BBall game....he waon some kind of a Fight-Club/basketball/shoving match bullchit game.

Some people are so sad that they have to win at all costs just to feel good about themselves. Me I like the challenge of the game....win or lose.

Of course I want to win but to win by cheesing is just pointlesss IMO.

I'm hoping for better games in the future.
Also I'm getting a headset so I can tell the guy next time that he's being an azz and to knock it off.

Yea thats why I cant wait to play in a league. When a guy starts cheesing you can at least complain about it and call him out plus warn other players. And if the commish sees fit, he can expel him from the league.

Re: So is there something that online guys are abusing?

I'm getting a lot of good games too. i usually play with the sonics, I like their shooting ability.

Some of my games have been against really fun players that mix it up and we have fun talking it up jokingly to each other.

I have run into my fair share of laker users. I usually beat them but if they are skilled Kobe is WAYYYYYYYYYYYY to good in this game. I had him double teamed, high pressure and was using a 3rd defender to get in his face. He was still hitting every fall away in sight. Dropped 59 on me with Kobe while saying "Kobe" each time down the court. I kept the game close for a long time with my sonics but there is not much you can do versus L.A.

Dallas I can handle, it just seems Kobe was given ridculous skill in this game.

I'm like 18-10 overall, I try to play only Novice games now. I just look at it this way, I really don't care about rankings or so forth. I make sure to add people I have fun playing to my friends list. Cuts down on the cheesers you end up playing. If you get stuck playing someone with the Lakers bear through it, It's not that big of deal.

For question above, once again everyone starts out on the newbie level. I got to Novice after 12 wins. No idea what gets you to skilled but I would imagine it is wins against Novice contenders.

Saw a guy that was 38-2 versus newbies and never played a Novice so not to lose. He was still at Novice and was ranked below people with more losses but who had more wins versus Novice competition.
Ranking system is based on playing people at your level if you care about it.

Re: So is there something that online guys are abusing?

I've been fortunate so far. I've only played 5 ranked games but everyone has been pretty cool and even though I hammered most of them they kept playing and trying. Luckily they did the shoot/pass only a few times which I can live with. I use it some to get out of a jam but I think it's ridiculous to do it everytime down the court. I have seen some star lovers though. One guy hung 46 on me with Kobe but my Kings still beat them by 20. I think the Kings are the only team that can compete with the Lakers in this year's version. The guy was hitting jumpers and 3's from everywhere with Kobe. I also played one game against the Mavs and led the whole way by about 10-15 and Dirk starting going off. He hit three 3's in a row and several other shots and I barely won the game by 4. I think Dirk finished with like 35. Has anyone gotten a triple double during a ranked game yet?? I've had double-doubles but haven't been very close to a triple with anyone.

As someone stated before I do get tired of having to play with and against the same teams. All I've seen so far are the Mavs, Spurs and Lakers. If people play with Spurs or Mavs I have been playing with the Rockets. If they play with Lakers I use Kings. I also used the Kings once against the Spurs. I did notice one guy who joined my game and then he chose the West All-Stars, I then chose the East and then he quit and never returned. I wonder if he's looking for morons who are willing to play agains the West all-stars and not use the other all star team?? Easy way to get a win I guess unless you really suck.
