    Reply from HVS

i know it's been discussed before but for whatever it's worth i sent an e-mail to HVS requesting some info about the updated rosters and as to why they couldn't use the "real" names of NBA players in the free agent list. now hopefully Microsoft can get off their butts and get the Roster Update out quick!!! Has anyone ever e-mail MS for an official response??

    Email reads as:

"Thanks for the email! Unfortunately we don't know what Microsoft's schedule will be for the updating of rosters, but we do know they will be doing it on their end.

Unfortunately, we could not allow the users to rename the free agents because the National Basketball Association wouldn't allow it. I can't go into the details, but ultimately, we would have loved to -- it simply wasn't our choice.

    Thanks again for writing!

Yeah, the names have to do with legal issues. It is the same thing that happened with Lavar Arrington with Madden. If players are not signed by the time the goes gold (when they are copied for the general public), the NBA does not allow those players who do not have contracts to be in NBA video games.

Before I get asked, the cut-off date for rosters is subjective, from what I understand, but the producer of the game has to set a date. One is agreed upon, and really there is not much that can be dealt with after that. but since you can now update rosters on line with XBL, that really shouldnt be a big issue, and my guess is that is why they didnt focus on that so much this yr

If you only play off line, you are out of luck, but you can always get the rosters from someone who has XBL. I will even go as far as to say when I get XBL (I get it for Christman) and when MSFT updates the rosters, if you want the rosters I will send them to you. You would have to send me a memory card and shipping money, and Ill send you back the updated rosters. I wont go into detail here, but if your interested, holla @ me, and well work it out

As for why MSFT hasnt updated the roster, I dont know idea what is taking them so long. It was up, so my best GUESS is the server is down. Again, this is only a guess

thanks for the offer bro!!! the funny thing is i just recently activated Xbox Live with the primary intention of downloading the Current Rosters. I thought that i minus well activate the 2 free months that came with the game.

anyway, hopefully a roster update comes out before the 2 months expire cuz i'm not really decided if i wanna continue the subscription (XBLive).

I'm gonna go ahead and call bull$hit on this one.

Maybe they can't legally use the names of the Free Agents, but don't hand me that crap about not allowing us to edit them. You can edit amatuer athletes in college football and basketball games, you can edit pro players in all other major sports games. If it was illegal, do you think EA and Sega would be doing it?
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

I'm gonna go ahead and call bull$hit on this one.

Maybe they can't legally use the names of the Free Agents, but don't hand me that crap about not allowing us to edit them. You can edit amatuer athletes in college football and basketball games, you can edit pro players in all other major sports games. If it was illegal, do you think EA and Sega would be doing it?
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?
