Even though I dont see what the big deal is with this feature, it does happen in the NBA. I saw Mcleod of the wolves do it the other night. Still, i think it would be abused, just like passing out of jumper

Re: To get it straight?
I used to play basketball(the real thing) quite a bit and occassionally, i pass out of the layup or jumper. Happens when two guys try to block my shot and my nearby teammate is open. It's not easy though, very rare occurence and can result in turnovers.
In video games, passing out of a layup or jumper should be limited as it can get exploited really easily online.Comment

It's true that passing out of a jump shot gets exploited online but it does happen for real, more often than people claim.
It's a good move to get a defender to commit and leave their feet or leave someone open.
I just wish they would PLEASE add two separate buttons next year (dunk-layup/Jump shot)Comment

Re: To get it straight?
Actually LeBron does it at least 3 times a game. The difference is that he drives with the intention of passing. NO ONE goes for a dunk and decides to pass off, but many players drive hard to the bucket and leave their feet to draw the D. Everyone shouldn't be able to do it though as this is an awareness play. Usually, the passer has spotted an open man or a cutter before he even starts his drive.
In videogame terms, I don't really mind not having this ability, its just one offensive move...No biggie. I play ID religously and don't miss it at all. I think the only people who will really make a big fuss about it are people who over-use it along with the dreaded jump-pass.
I think a cool feature would be that only players with high awareness, passing, and agility ratings should be able to do it. That would cut down on the cheesers passing out of dunks with just anybody.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment
