Re: Greatest NBA game of all time?
Comparing the games side by side, it would most likely be 2k13 as the series gets better with almost every release (in varying wide of steps, though).
Judging by how good a game is for its own time, 2k11 is quite up there.
But I would probably go with NBA Live 99 or 2000, then. Those games where huge back then.
And 2k11, although definitely a milestone in its own, was not flawless.Comment

Re: Greatest NBA game of all time?
It's a matter of taste. To me, it's impossible to call a certain game that didn't even have a post-up option/button as the greatest ever, yet I see people declaring that NBA Live '95, for example, is the greatest ever. I'll never get it, but I guess they mean they had most fun with it back then ('back then' are the key words).
For me, 2K13 is the best. From the moment I touched it I knew this would be my favorite basketball game. I didn't play much 2K12 or 2K11 (well, more of 2K11), but enough to realize that neither gave me the the experience 2K13 gave me the moment I touched it.
If we're talking pure nostalgia and what game gave you most fun in the past - NBA Live 99 (PC, no consoles for me until 2003) is right there. I felt it was the smoothest, best graphics and most fun game back then.My Specs:

Re: Greatest NBA game of all time?
Is that the one players were running up and down the court vertically? The one with generic names (Mike Jordache, for example)? If so, I used to love it on PC in the early 90's! I have created full rosters with all names and attributes and played it at my friend's. The only game to have player jumping with momentum back then, when no game had such thing. My Specs:

NBA 2k13 and I don't even think its the 'newest game' excitement with my vote. NBA 2k11 was awesome and I beat the brakes off it but 2k13 has put me right back into that 'happy place'.#WashedGamerComment

Re: Greatest NBA game of all time?
I used to love ID 2000, and played it much more than Live 2000. That game was good.
I also played ID 2002 and 2003 when I bought a used Xbox 2 years ago. 2002 was fun but kind of arcadish. 2003 felt better to me, but I didn't get the chance to play 2004 - which according to some here was ahead of its time gameplay-wise.
If I remember correctly, ID 2002 and on had some tendencies and some nice edits. I think it also had dribbling on the right stick (as alternate controls, if I'm not mistaken). Those games were fun.My Specs:
