I have read mad hype about this game here. However on other sites poeple aren't really praising it that much. So why do you guys here like it so much, and do you miss the freedom and plethera of moves that freestyle gives you on live 04?

To answer your question, I'd say yes....BUT. It depends on what type of game you are interested in. The reasons it gets a ton of praise here is because the majority of the members here are more hardcore sim, so they appreciate, and expect all of the "small" things in the game. For me personally I dearly miss freestyle control. But it's the only thing I miss when playing ID> all.... -

I rented it and while it is pretty good on the offensive side but the defensive side of things is horrible. Guys like Ira Newble draining J's is terrible. Like I said offensively and the pace is great, but the lack of defense and the lack of freestyle is just to much for me. I can get pretty good ball movement and a decent pace on live with my style of play. Also graphics are to much for me on my big screen tv, they look real bad.Comment

There's no lack of defense if you take some time to learn how to play it.
But if you're concerned about graphics and freestyle moves, this will not be your game.Comment

Just got the game.
gameplay reminds me of college hoops.
you can do almost all the real moves - you just have to do them manually and if the guys rating suck its going to look slow and uncoordinated.
It actually lets you cross somebody up if you get the hang of the controls. I was under the impression that there were like no moves or something but it lets you do some moves.
I think the reason people like it is the good ai and the ability to customize individuals . This is basically the first console game that doesn't make every small-forward etc.. play the same. You can have a guy like Artest who play different then Lebron or whatever.
Its not an arcade style game. and things like blocks have to timed in advance and steals need to be on target or you get a foul...Comment
