They said they wanted to take a year off to make their titles competitive with EA Sports and VC. I haven't played Fever, but I know one thing for sure: Inside Drive just needed a slight graphical tweak, and that was it. You know Bill Gates, can't settle for anything less than first."He who controlleths the backboard, controlleths the game." - Adolph Rupp -

hey didn't need a tweak of the graphics. They needed to completely overhaul them. It's sad that they couldn't take advantage of any of the xbox's capabilities(sound, graphics, etc...) and it was an xbox exclusive gameOriginally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

They needed to add a graphics major tweak, better presentation, and some different animations.Comment

Re: Question
They needed something that people would actually buy (which is entirely about the looks of the game).
Only 50,000 ID 2004 copies have sold. I believe ID 2002 sold 300,000+, while ID 2003 sold 170,000 (a few weeks back, there was a thread at the Gaming-Age forum that had lifetime-to-date figures for each, but GA switched to a new server, obliterating that... the exact numbers are out there floating around, though).
The game is now selling well below the number generally accepted to be profitable, even as the Xbox userbase has increased substantially. Releasing an Inside Drive 2005 on the current Xbox, unfortunately, would just be throwing good money after bad.
So MS realizes they need their sports games to look as good as, or better than, the competition. With Xbox 2 just around the corner, they decided to just focus on that instead and have a fresh start for all their series.Comment
