Am I the only one having trouble hitting jumpers and 3s???

I regularly play as the Sonics, who rely on an outside game but I Cannot hit 3s or outside jumpers consistently! Its really frustrating! In my franchise (I play on the hardest difficulty), I usually shoot less than 30% in games and it seems like it doesn't matter whether i'm open or not since I miss a lot of open jumpers. And this is with decent (at worst) shooters like Barry, Allen , Radmanovic and Lewis. I sometimes end up with 0 of 10 from the arc or something like that. My players are usually set and facing the basket and are usually open when I attempt a three.

This even happens in Practice. Most of my shots have proper release, but I still shoot around 30-40%

On the other hand, the CPU usually makes 50+% of its shots. More often than not, their shooters are covered by my players, but this just might be because of seattle's terrible D.

Besides this, I find the gameplay great except players tend to bunch up.

Is there also a way to get my Defense to rotate faster?

Erm, turn your field goal % up perhaps?

if u have player streaks turned on the game seems to reward jumpshooters who start by hitting a few easy attempts.

game is still very ratings based. Your TRAFFIC rating on offense determines how much defense affects you. A good shooter with a low TRAFFIC rating shooting while being covered will probably still miss a lot.

shooting on the move or even the run also reduces your shot = if your guy goes into the fadeaway animation then you better hope to have a good FADEAWAY rating.

The best way to get jumpers and 3s is ball movement , screens. Against the computer you will have a short amount of time to perform your shot , and the CPU behaves somewhat predictable , so it can help to practice say driving with your pointguard , then kicking it out to the shooter and shooting or running off a quick screen.. In other words - Practice the complete play to shooting a 3 until you get perfect at a few plays and that will GREATLY help you to get consistent open looks.

GREAT SHOOTER + OPEN LOOKS = many jumpers and 3s

The thing is, my players are usually not moving before they take shots. And this is with guys like Ray Allen, Brent Barry and Rashard Lewis.

I try to do everything I can to get a good jumper but I still end up with a low percentage.

And the sliders i see have the shooting %s down a few clicks.

I must be doing something wrong...

what Martin said is great advice and here`s some other ideas for shooting jumpers-

but my first question for you would be this--

                      1. where are you shooting from? there are certain locations on the court where its easier to hit jumpshots. one tip is this- imagine the location of the balls during a 3 point shooting contest. some are located in the corners and some are located at the top of the key and some between the key and the corner. these are the locations where you want to shoot 3`s from.

                      2. do you have any rythym to your jumpshot. like do you take shots after you pass the ball around and find the open man or do you just go down court and shoot a 3? shooting is a VERY rythmic thing... your team needs to be hot or you need to have some offensive plan to hit them with consistency. your shooting percentage will go up of you shoot right after you recieve a pass.

                      3. do you have a smooth release? this is hard to explain but when i`m hitting jumpers, i just feel like i time it perfectly more often than not. you want to "FEEL" the shot more than just pushing a button.

it may sound like jedi training but these tips will help alot!

RYTHYM and TIMING are everything when shooting jumpers.

Try releasing the ball a little late opposed to perfect. I seem to hit more 3's with a late release then when the release appears to be perfect.
