lol that is so true Beast.

When i was getting used to editing create a players i realized certain things like dunk ability ratings are a bit over inflated even in ID2004. For example a 65 rating in dunk and a 60 rating in range and the guy is a very good dunker with those ratings(good in real life).

a huge upgrade in sports games would be the incorporation of various degrees of simulation/realism all the way across to the opposite Arcade/fun. Most games can be affected by sliders but no game can truely boast a smooth switch from sim to arcade and back. I would settle for an arcade type fun title like nba live as long as they would let me adjust it to a painstakingly , "boring", extremely realistic simulation , honestly and i don't even want extreme dunking or blocks (i doubt they believe me). The problem is that even if u could get the ai right the graphics would still be cartoonish.

weird thing is all the serious online basketball players prefer sim. The ones who prefer arcade are more fans of any fun game and will get an nba jam type streetball game just for the purpose of cool graphics and a fun exagerated game, these type of fans could easily pick up another arcade style hit. Internet is the wave of the future , and that will be the largest growing segment of gamers. - being able to play an opponenet(usually a decent one) from across the globe in your favorite sports game is truely addictive.

Most of the people who allocate spending for most games are tenative to spend a lot on online yet , because not only are they on tight budgets , but they believe the money is still in graphics and this is probably true. Just there will be a trend toward simulation/online style games and Drive fits that category , hopefully it wasn't too ahead of its time and it comes back strong. i hope

well thats the big difference between a sim fan and an arcade fan. sim fans don`t find it "boring" when a game produces realistic stats. typically a stat driven game is far more strategic than an arcade game. i like to think when i`m playing sports games but the masses don`t. and thus we have games like ESPN NBA and the ps2 LIVE series...
they just want to score everytime they put up the shot.

they don`t want to calculate the odds of when a shot has a good chance of going and when it doesn`t have a good chance of going, they just want to make the shot and do 10 crossovers before shooting it.

ohhh well.... I`m slowly gaining more faith in baseball games for produces strategic simulated gameplay than any other sports genre right now. I think if developers really worked on it they could make baseball games spot on accurate. and they are pretty damn close right now.

but football and baseketball are slowly dropping.
