Competition and Comparison thread.
If there is one of these, I will delete it and keep it moving. This is an open forum so I decided to make a thread where we (hopefully) can have an intelligent comparison thread b-w Live and 2k without having to say the competitors game, the other game and so forth. This is also meant to be a place to post pics, discuss both games likes/dislikes. #nofanboyism #nostan just straight up how us virtual b-ball heads feel about the games regardless of preference.Tags: None -
Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
My only dislike for 2k is the lighting, facial scans body scans and shoe scans are all good but they need to start scanning jerseys, and accessories also to keep everything on the same page graphically.
NBA Live on the other hand is impressing me in the lighting category but I favor 2ks facial scans more, but IMO Live has 2k beat in accessories, still have them beat in shoe scans as far as I can tell, and courts look a lot better in NBA Live then they do in 2k.
Both games need work when it comes to jerseys whether it is incorrect font sizes that Live seems to have trouble with, or incorrect colors which 2k has always struggled with. -
Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
Here we go, here's the first faceoff. (I had to scale down the size of Live's DeRozan screenshot to be similar to the size of the 2k shot.)
In order: 2k - Live - real lifeAttached FilesComment

Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
See this is the difference in lighting I am talking about its clear to see that Live has a more real life based lighting where 2k just has there own version of lighting that gives players a reddish tent, why cant everyone see that this is not a good look.Comment

Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
^^^
2k:
+ good tattoo scan, looks sharp
+ jersey lettering ('RAPTORS') looks good
Live:
+ lighting, lighting, lighting: allowed for a more accurate skin tone, allows for intricate details like bone structure, really gives the feeling that stadium lights are shining upon them their skin
+ tattoo scan looks good, not overdone/dark
+ Demar's eye color is correct
Me personally, I give the nod to Live 16Comment

Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
Looking at the Live scan again, I assume Derozan wasn't scanned?....he just looks off....head is a different shape, with that random dip in his chin area that Derozan doesn't have....only real advantage I see is the skin color tbhComment

Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
yeah they both look mad realistic and slightly off at the same time. the only thing that trips me out about 2k is the tatts. incredibly accurate, but they look like it's on the skin rather than in it. live's demar skin tone is on point and i like how live handled player expressions. it really gives lives models some life. 2k's models look alive af in motion. one of my homeboys at work thought 2k's AD was a photo. lolComment

Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
i also like how the live team handled uni's. i hope the rest of them are as accurate. they cant hold a candle yet to 2k's cloth physics though. i'm wondering how both teams will handle this in years to come. #soexited
now if we can only get this in football.Comment

Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
You can't just compare single shots of each game with a video cap or photo because the color balance on any of those including the actual photo might be wrong. 2K's lighting looks to have more global illumination and feels more "real". Live's is quite fine though the videos do show that is lighting model isn't quite there but close. The 2K shot also seems underexposed (along with all the other Raptors shots) and was shot at an angle where Derozan somehow isn't getting a lot of incident light. But other shots we've seen of the game look phenomenal.Comment

Re: Competition and Comparison thread.
Gotta give the lighting to Live. It really is impressive. Overall, though, I like 2K's models better. And it is so far ahead of Live in animations (maybe a bit too heavy in some instances), gameplay and modes that it's not even funny. 2K for the win!Comment
