Please don't put Rugby in the same breath as WNBA basketball. I love Rugby and the loyal following that it has even in the states is past the WNBA. Unfortunatly most of the rugby fans live in one area of the US and that is the Northeast.

i don't think the demand is there for a WNBA game. most people who watch women's basketball (like myself) are basketball purest and really enjoy the women's game because it is fundamentally sound. however, that doesn't always convert over to a video game very well. regardless of what sports title you play be it basketball, football, hockey, golf, tennis, etc. people still want to be able to pull off the spectacular play. so in other words, if you can't pull off a dunk or an alley-oop, then it's not going to be as enjoyable. i don't know about you, but i don't want to see a game where they have women dunking left and right when i know that is not the case in real life. i used to play with some of the women's team in the past march madness games and i didn't find it as enjoyable, and plus it was just thrown together because the player models were all the same (except skin and hair color) and players all had the same moves.

I am arare fan of the WNBA and I am a guy believe it or not. Well actually I am a Sue Bird fan. She is off da hook. She can play and she fine. She is a rarity in the world of womens sports. Feminine.

Oh FG you know darn well I would because I buy em all

I can't say I watch of the WNBA myself but I do watch alot of womens college basketball. Force was correct that if you like fundmental basketball the womens game is the one to watch.

My money is on the fact Sheryl Swoops could whip all of you guys on the court

i'm glad to see that there are some guys out there that can see and appreciate the women's game as being fundamentally sound. i personally prefer the women's college game as opposed to the WNBA game. i think the WNBA is trying to be more and more flashy to "appeal" to the NBA crowd. cw4, have you noticed how the WNBA is trying to show the feminine side of the sport more with the commercials where they highlight an individual player? i'm glad to see that because the misconception still exists that you must be "butch" if you're a female and play sports. sue bird, cherly swoops, and lisa leslie are very feminine and are great athletes.

I jumped on the womens college hoops bandwagon back when Cheryl Miller was playing for USC.

Of course here in Lubbock we have our national title, and Marsha Sharp has done an amazing job taking Texas Tech to where they are at. Especially if you remember the dominance of Texas in the SWC.

The thing around here is before Coach Knight shoed up the mens team could not sell out a game. Marsha and the Lady Raiders have been selling them out since Swoopes came on campus.

swoopes was awesome during texas tech's title run. i've never seen a player (woman or man) dominate a tournament the way she did. i didn't get a chance to see cheryl miller play in college since i was overseas at that time, however, i have seen her hightlights. my favorite player is dawn staley. dawn staley and tammi reiss were one of the best backcourt tandems i've ever seen with sue bird and diana taurasi being a close second. those two single-handly made the virginia lady cavaliers a powerhouse. if only the wnba was around when staley first came out of college in '92. her knees aren't what they used to be.

On those Virginia teams didn't they have a couple of really tall girls on them? 6'5 plus?

A good article on the Lady Raiders team of 93 below. The one thing that seperates Tech from the Tennessees and Ucons was one little fact.

10 of the scholarship players on the team were from a 150 mile radius. 2 of them (they only listed one?) were from Lubbock. Janice Ferris and Diana Kersey. I gradulated from Monterey (Lubbock) with both.

yeah, but those tall girls sucked . that's one of the main reasons why they could never get over the hump and win the national championship after appearing in the final four for 3 straight years.

texas always have great talent in all sports. it's no surprise to me that texas tech and before them the texas longhorns were so dominant in women's college hoops. it's a lot easier when you can keep that great talent at home with the incentive of a great program and excellent academic facilities.
