Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

You have to be B+ or higher to get jobs in power conferences. Jobs like Duke or Kansas rarely come open (almost always when the incumbent retires) and when they do come open someone with a A- or higher grade usually gets the job.

You can only add up to 5 attribute points an offseason no matter how many goals you accomplish in a given season, it takes around 19 to get a B and around 24 to get a B+.

Even when you reach B+ the pickings will certainly be slim for awhile (only schools like Northwestern, Oregon State, and Georgia will have openings).

Your best for the next 4 + seasons is to stay at Boise State, load up on 4 and 5 stars, dominate the WAC and try to accomplish as many feasible goals as possible. Post exactly what goals you have accomplished.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I have not posted in here in a while. I downloaded a set of 09-10 rosters from someone that has no ties to O but may have used a OS file as a base. The file was ok. All big and mid-major team looked good. The small schools had correct years but little to freshmen. I was cool with that since the years and names were right. So with some time on my hands (teacher/coach taking a new job but want start until the summer). So I started a closed legacy with Campbell.

Year 1: 28-5 record; won the regular season A-Sun but lost in 2nd round of the tournement; got a bid to the NCAA's as a 9 seed; made it to the sweet 16; signed 6 players including three 3* from Europe (SG, SF, & PF) plus a 3* 6'10" SF that I moved to PF; the other 2 players were both 7'0" 2* C's.

Year 2: 31-5 record; beat UCONN and UK to highlight the season; won regular season and A-Sun tournement; 6 seed in the NCAA's; lost in 2nd to Gonzaga a 3 seed; The best offer I received was Witcha St.; I didn't take it since I had a great 3* PF coming in; also got a 3* JuCo SG who has a rating of 84 on 3's; a 3* JuCo SF that is 6'8" 254 and a good 3pt shooter as well; a 3* C that has a mid range game; over all a good class and worth the return. Hope to make a run.
Relax, it's just a video game!

I've already achieved everything that's plausible (at least, I think) at my station (4 star recruit, high school AA, Mr. BB, entire season w/o unhappy players, etc) and I'm looking to move on to a bigger job.

Am I just being impatient? I'm a B grade overall, and I'm guessing that's too low to be offered Duke or Kansas or whatever, should it come available. Right now, I'm just offered gigs that are less desirable than what I have at Boise St.

Anyway, just a new 2k8 player wondering how the system works. Thanks!

Like you I have taken over Boise State after year 2 several times. They are my favorite team. Typically it always took me about 4 years before I really started getting looks from Major and Power programs. You won't get the Duke and Kansas of the worlds. But more like Northwestern,Penn State,Auburn, or something similar. Typically a team that has had multiple years of losing. You might get a offer to a school like Memphis or a A-10 school like Charlotte, Saint Louis ect.. Which in some peoples eyes would be a upgrade.

The biggest thing is exactlly what Jenkins said. Post what attribute points you have earned and what you havn't. There still should be 1-3 that you havn't accomplished that are pretty do able at BSU. I actually landed the #1 Overall 5* AA Mr BB from CA well at BSU. I recruited him as a FR and after back to back Final 4's I then lost in the National Championship game. (My 3rd year at BSU) and 5th Overall. I signed him inseason so that got me 2 points. I then took those points and left for Minnesota. So I actually never played a game with the kid. But it was great watching him dominate and keep BSU in the Top-25 after I left.

Has anyone ever used Brown University in a career legacy? I started one with them last night and wow, they have a lot of guys who can shoot the 3. So far I have gone 3-1 with them, my only loss coming from Michigan where I kept it pretty close in the first half. Second half came and they ran away with it from there. Lucas-Perry was hitting 3's like it was cool.

Simmed about 2/3 of my 2nd season at Long Island because I was bored with the roster and was more interested in recruiting. I was the 1 seed in my conference tournament and beat Monmouth by 22. Next round I got upset 77-74 by Central Connecticut State and got an NIT bid. Lost in the first round to Marshall and finished 19-13.

I got a few job offers, but outside of Oakland there weren't any that interested me. I decided to stick around at Long Island for another year.

Can someone tell me if assisstant coaches have the ability to improve their ratings? Sometimes their description will read "has the desire to get better and secure a gig at a good school". Also I'm assuming keeping the same assisstants around will help with team unity?

Some do, and I believe it has to do with ambition ratings.

This is why you need to have multiple save files for your prized legacies. With my St. John's legacy, I have three different save files that I use. I'll play a couple games saving on one file then I'll start saving on the next one. That way if one goes to crap, I'm not too far behind.

Getting ready to start Season 2 with my Fab 5 at UC Davis. I had a very succesfull year 1. We went 32-8 winning the National Title. It was my 1st time every taking at team to the National Title game in my 1st year in a legacy. I made the Final 4 in my open legacy with Washington State.

The Fab 5 is made of up of 4 players from guys from the OS boards as well as my own created player. I put them on a closed legacy team (UC Davis). All 5 guys started out as 70 Overall.

The National Title game was amazing. We entered the tourney as a #7 seed after upsetting #2 UCLA during Non-Conference Play and going 11-5 in the Big West as well as winning the Big West Conference Tourney. We opened the NCAA tourney with a win over #10 Southern Utah, then upset #2 Syracuse. Our Sweet Sixteen was a cake walk over #6 Washington but we had to beat #1 UNC in the Elite 8. We got lucky in the Final 4 because we played another Cinderella Story in #12 W. Carolina. The National Title game well who else but #2 Kansas. The Jayhawks are loaded with S. Collins avg over 20 ppg. Cole Aldrich is putting up close to a double double and FR X. Henry is having a solid Freshman campaign avg almost 10 ppg. We take a 41-37 lead at the half. Totally shutting down Collins from deep 1/6 3pt. In the 2nd half Kansas battles back and takes a 2pt lead with 18 seconds to play, but I run the PG Loop getting my SF Seth Johnson (Dynasty Josh) open for a 3pt at the buzzer. We win the game 78-77. Johnson finishes the night with 19 pts 8 reb 4 asst and is 5/7 from 3pt. S. Collins scored 15 pts in the loss but was just 1/10 from 3pt.

Now in Season 2. I have had 8 other members from the OS boards that follow my legacy create players in which I put in my recruiting class. I am going follow their stats through college as well as continue to post the UC Davis games. Once everyone graduates I am thinking about creating a thread about their NBA Careers.

So far in Year 1 I earned 16 attribute points. I figure by Year 4 I should get a decent Major/Power program type offer so thats when I plan on jumping ship and seeing what I can accomplish at the next level. Until then its my goal to see if I can get the "Fab 5" 3 more National Titles.

                              pretty sick.

Got some rosters and started a Legacy with Dartmouth...

got a rude awakening when I got shelled by Air Force by nearly 35pts lol

I hope I get better quick.

I'm in my first season at Monmouth and I squeeked into the NCAA tourney by winning my Conference Tournament. Well anyways I drew a number 16 seed and lucked out because I have to face the...UAB Blazers! What!? How did they get a number 1? Well they went 30-3 in the conference USA but they are only rated 82 and I'm a 70.
I think I may have a chance in this one...
