Yep this game will never get old. I hope that 2k will one day produce another but I just don't see it happening. But hey, maybe by 2020 EA will have produced a college basketball game that is half as good as CH 2k8. Ok that was funny, that will never happen as long as they have the same crappy engine. EA is all about adding fluff to the game without fixing the crappy gameplay.
EA Sports, perfecting mediocrity, one step at a time.

its a mode avalible in the game where you control everything but the players on the court....Its very immersive and it will help you get back into the game because now you cant exploit the game anymore....which means you actually have to pick you players when recruiting because their ratings WILL matter and great players will be hard to come by if your not winning all the time(which happens when you exploit the game)

cpu vs cpu is just letting the cpu play it self, you do nothing but watch(if you want) basically seeing the game sim out instead of actually simming it...

I have sliders that work for both and they are pretty good

Addiction update; played five games in my UConn dynasty yesterday after switching to Fist's MOP sliders. Went 5-0 which is kinda disappointing as I lost a ton of talent last year and should be in a semi rebuilding year. We'll see how things go against the Big East titans.

I've played 5 games in a day a few times, I think they put subliminal messages in the game because it is too addicting. I haven't played in a week or so but I'm definitely going to start back up soon.

Yup, the game sneaks up on you nicely. You think it's old and can't hack it anymore but then it sucks you back in.

I played three more games today with UConn and actually lost two of them! At Washington (they were 87 ovr, I'm 86) and at home to Providence in the Big East opener (they're 84 ovr). I lost by 3 at Wash and by 9 to PC (couldn't throw the ball in the ocean, 2/22 from deep).

Good stuff, it's nice to have some bumpy times at an elite program.

I love 2k hoops so much that when my 360 went down I had to purchace 2k7 for regular xbox.
              Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

That's what is great about this game. Just when you think it's becoming too easy your team will go through a rough patch. It's still by far the best hoops game ever IMO.

Takng a break for football season but no doubt that come January or February I'll be back in the saddle and playing this game unilt July or August. Still the best sports game I've ever played - heres to hoping Madden gives it a run for its money.

This game is still the real deal.

I'm in year 12 in my Legacy with Syracuse. Two years ago one of the top prospect in the nation (I recruited him since his freshman year in HS) reject my scholarship to play for Michigan State. It was a big deal for me since I enjoyed so much playing with him in the ABL four summers in a row. And guess who I face in the championship game? Michigan state with their 95 sophomore SF who dump me two years ago. I beat the cr*p out of them with a sensational block (the replay was saved obviously) on the traitor!!

I love this game for bringing such scenario like this!

Re: This game owns my soul.

One thing I really love about this game is that it truly depicts the ups and downs of inexperienced/young players. My starting freshman SG(Nixon) has flashes of brilliance one game and then throws up bricks another. Same deal with my other freshman SG who comes off the bench, he put up 20 earlier this season but has struggled since.

I played my ninth game of the season tonight an won in a great game. I beat SIU 53-51. The first half we started off hot going up 24-11 with 4 minutes left, then SIU went on a pretty good run and the half ended 31-24. Jonas Nixon led the way with 9 points in the first half.

In the second half we struggled until my sophmore CG scored 6 quick points, and we went on a pretty good run. He ended up scoring 11 points in the second half(he didn't score in the first half). We had a pretty comfortable lead up 8, but the tides started to turn. SIU's Ballinger scored two 3's to get within two with only a minute left. I ran off 35 seconds but missed my shot and they held the ball until 3 seconds were left launched a possible 3(looked like his foot might've been on the line) but just barely missed it and I escaped with a win.

Re: This game owns my soul.

I just lost my third in a row with UConn, amazing. I got blown out at Notre Dame by 27! My point guard situation is a disaster (due to the ups and downs of young players as mentioned in the post above) and my offense stinks. I have a 5-star AA freshman PG who is so insanely consistent it's maddening - especially on the road. It's awesome to see though, so realistic. My other option is senior Donnell Beverly who can't do much for the team but is more experienced. Beverly started the year but I finally put the frosh in after he was playing great ball for a stretch. Apparently he couldn't handle the pressure of starting though, he's been horrible in the four games he started so he'll be going back to the bench.

Another awesome thing is nagging injuries. My SG (second leading scorer) pulled his hamstring and was listed as day-to-day for 18 days. I've played three games since the injury and he's been horrible. He's a lights out shooter who can't throw the ball in the ocean and because of the hammy he can't drive past anyone either (not his strength to begin with). Another crazy thing is that defenders stopped biting on his headfake and close out really tight because they know he can't drive. He was averaging 16 ppg before the injury and it's dropped to below 13 in just three games and he's shooting below 30%. I don't think he's scored over six points since the injury. No coincidence my three game losing streak came after this injury, I have no consistent outside shooters without this kid at 100%. I'm thinking about holding him out of next game and see how he does, he's got 9 or 10 days left on the injury.

Back to duke777's post, it's funny you mentioned the frosh SG because nothing will drive you more crazy than freshman shooting guards. Most can't drive to the hoop that well and all of them have an insanely inconsistent shot. I grabbed an SG who was the #16 ovr player in last year's HS class, he's barely seeing the court for me right now even after the injury to my starting SG I mentioned above. He just can't put things together yet, I think he reached double figure scoring once so far.

Game is crack. Madden looks/sounds like it's gonna be amazing this year but I'm not even thinking about it yet because this nearly two-year-old game is still ridiculous.

Luckily my last win prevented me from going on a 3 game losing streak. I think I'll throw many different line ups out there this year as I scramble to find out which young players can handle the 1 and 2. Your lucky to have an experienced guard to be able to go out there, all 3 of mine graduated last year and I have 3 Fr and 1 So to man the gaurds.

I had a few my first year but since then I haven't had any, I'm thinking about raising the injury slider. That's gotta be really tough to have your second leading scorer struggle, happened to me my first year and we really struggled during that time.

Yeah, I realized how spoiled I was last year to have a Sr. SG who was the coach on floor. He rarely struggled, and came through in the clutch...unlike my SG now who is unpredictable.

I have the same sentiments as you do about madden, but I rarely play other games while I'm playing my college hoops dynasty, so I don't know how much time I'll have for it.

Damn. This is the reason why I will most likely skip this years Hoops games. Once college bball starts up I will get back into my Wake Legacy.

Yeah I used to have a 360 but got sick of it breaking all the time. Been on cloud 9 with my PS3 for a little over a year now.

I played at home against South Florida. My team is really struggling, I was down by 11 in the second half but managed to sneak back in as a few secondary options finally started knocking down shots from beyond the arc. I was up 74-73 with a few seconds left and USF had the ball, they did a pick-n-roll and the guy with the ball pulled up as soon as he came off the screen. Beverly leaped and blocked the shot but the ref blew his whistle! I was so f'n mad that I was about to drop my third straight conference game to start the season but thankfully the kid who I fouled was the collegiate version of Nick Anderson, he missed all three foul shots! In all the games I've played of 2K8 I've never seen a kid miss all three FT's when being fouled on a 3PT. Craziness, and nice to get a W on the board in conference play.

After that I got smacked by St. John's (I put Lance Stephenson on there just to have fun, this was obv before he signed with Cinncy) at their place as my D failed to show up. I let my injured SG play but he was 1-6 from the field in limited minutes, he'll remain sidelined until the hammy is 100%.

So I'm 1-3 in Big East play and have one more game before everyone on my team is healthy again. It'll be interesting to see if things turn around after that.
