Re: This game owns my soul.

im definetly feeling this game more than any other game right now. it just feels right.

some team stats of recent past games:
ECU (user) vs. St. Bona (CPU). some games the cpu just doesnt have it in them. Personel wise, it just wasnt their night. I took advantage early and often and had this one won rather easily, although the score still remained within 10.

This next game was another tough one.
IPFW (User) vs. Delaware (CPU). Youll see the majority of the highlights in the vid below came from this game. Cpu playing very smart basketball. What more can I say. Both teams shot in the low 30% range. Defensive battle all night long.

            Lastly:
            Cal (User) vs UAB (CPU):

            - points in the paint in my favor, FTs about even, but I just couldnt hang with them. Sullivan on their team had around 28 pts. Just driving and scoring at will. Very nice CPU execution here

            Lastly the highlight video:

            <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WlBJxoXy7bY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WlBJxoXy7bY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

            rundown:
-User takes advantage of guard vs. center mismatch. three odd crossovers and he finally falls down
IPFW (User) vs. Delaware (CPU). clips:
-#3 on my team was a beast with layups and overall moves around the basket
-CPU pump fakes the heck out of me, i bite, and he drives and gets fouled. notice the great animations around the basket. noone getting dunked over, just a straight foul
-triple teaming the CPU in the paint is a bad idea. no look bounce pass to a cutting defender. and1 layup for them
-two moves and im in the paint. I make what looks like an easy layup rather hard. but it works out as helpside defense is there but they cant get the ball. the rim blocks it.
-#24 out of the triple threat with a baseline move. CPU cuts him off but he has enough room for the graceful layup
-CPU sets a high screen on me for a cutting PG.. youll see but it happens again
-#3 is a 90 plus rated dunker in this game.. These small schools have some gems.
-CPU drives for what looks like an easy score but Im there and get my hand through him, literally. and he gets rim rocked. no foul called here. I can live with animations and clipping like this as the end result was nice.
-#3 scott again has very little room to drive, but makes the most of it with a driving scoop shot layup.
-CPU screen again. this time in the middle of the court with the pass coming from the side. I didnt see this one coming and fell right into the screen.
-User tip rebound. You cant be doing nothing close to that in games these days ('09 or '10)
            --------------------
            Arizona (user) vs. Oregon (Cpu)
-fastbreak pumpfake gets the cpu in the air, as i drive for the layup.
-cpu Chase #34 catches the smallest guy on a mismatch. it happens so quick. he does a quick spin off a post from 25 feet out and dunks it over my entire team.
-Another nice block animation here. My hand gets in the way. I can live with the way this one looks as well. Contextual animations like this are key for all games.
            ------------------
            Cal (user) vs. uab (cpu)
I lost this game, but in this clip youll see ryan andersen get blocked on the perimeter, the ball goes straight up, and I get lucky as I scoop it back up, run down to the rim, and dunk it. and 1.. how unlucky can you be cpu? lol
            - Im about to get dunked on and press Y to do something, and you get that following animation. I prevent the dunk and score, and give up the foul. YESSS. I have control AGAIN!
-Andersen curls around three defenders only to bounce into one of them. Foul is called on the ensuing helpside block by #15. He doesnt get locked out of the play because the animations took him elsewhere. He was involved in this play all the way.
            -----------
lastly, Loyola MD (CPU) vs Toledo (USer):
-one instance where a steal attempts works here. be cautious as its called often enough to where you shouldnt make this risk more than twice a game. It worked here.

more and more stuff to follow. im head deep into this game now.

That's exactly what I was thinking as I was playing yesterday. By default I'm more of a football fan...atleast I thought I was. lol There isn't a football game that I've played that feels as close to the sport of football, IMO, as this game feels to basketball. I don't know why I ever got rid of it. I'm generally a seasonal gamer but I know that I could play college hoops 2k8 year round. I think I'm going to plug in Jukeman's sliders now and maybe start a nice coach mode career legacy.

I know it's been a while but what am I missing. I seem to remember callings plays using the 4 directions on the d-pad then holding a button and accessing 4 more plays. The ingame tip says to press right on the d-pad and box will come up listing plays. This must not be available in coach mode?

Nevermind, I remember which button calls up the 2nd set of 4 plays.

are those 4 add. plays only in coach mode? i have yet to try that? is there a specific coach mode within the game for legacy or standard exhibition mode? it sounds enticing. Do players run plays within your teams playbook by themselves? and youre given the chance to OVERsee all of it and possibly call a play of your own.

i thought id as before digging any deeper

well the original file is something like OS complete version 3 with court edits. it should be in the most popular area. username is wallywonka. on xbox 360.

thats the original file from back in 2007 when I applied my edits.

I have since went in and redid a few dozen schools with new colors. Goes to show you what two years does to your eyes as some shades are off. That has not been uploaded yet, but i would rather just give in text form the changes that need to be entered.

im not sure what the 09-10 roster guys used as a base but it may be possible to add in my 180 plus changes to that file. it just takes time

Oh yeah, I have that file already. It's good. I had to tweak SU's roster a bit but most teams looked spot on from 07-08.

What court edits were made? I didn't know you could mess with that stuff in the game. I'd like to edit uniforms, too, so I could add FSU's all-black jerseys into the game.

originally there was like 165 edited courts done in that version 3 file for the games launch. It was really just for line colors and outer paint/paint. It really adds to the game imo. That balance is KEY. Just yesterday, I relooked at every arena and made some more changes. I think we're up to 175 total now. what ill do in the following week is compile those changes in a text document and let others make changes that what I had already done. Id say there are 12 or so new ones that can be applied to the OSv3 file.
                              -----------------------------
Just had the game of my life right here.. Back and forth, .. and back and forth all game long. This one went down to the wire. I had a 5 pt lead with about 2 minutes to go and from there, both teams were making shots..

shot clock winding down with 47 seconds remaining... i had a 2 pt lead, i take my star player and penetrate into the 2-3 zone. my cpu teammate streaks to the corner for what would become a key 3 pointer..

Cpu calls a timeout and quickly shoots a two pointer so that they would get the ball back. WIth 42 seconds left, I get the ball back and CPU does not foul me. smart move imo. I take a tough shot and cpu runs down court for an open THREE to send it into OT and misses.. game over.. My guys dont go back down court to defend the last second shot. I was in shock. it happened so fast. CPU knew what it was doing but it wasnt their night.

                              Team Stats:
                              LAF(user) @ ULR(cpu)

-Cpu was content with shooting threes this game. Minimal FTs for them.
-I had a player who was just on fire tonight with threes. They played a 2-3 zone most of the night and the corners were wide open for my guy

                              box score:

Abdullah was just so on this game with his three point shot.
-Decent amount of FTs for my squad.

                              CPU Shot Chart:

-I too played zone most of the night. they just werent hitting their corner shots. but still managed to stay in this game.

I just cant get enough of this game. Every game is different but ultimately the same.

finally some highlights from the game:
                              <embed width="440" height="420" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://v4.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=6gj47c&s=4"><br><font size="1"><a href="http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=6gj47c&s=4">Original Video</a> - More videos at <a href="http://tinypic.com">TinyPic</a></font>
-nice user team cpu teammate deflection here in zone.
-85 rated dunker with a nice quick cross over freezing me up. ANother LEBRON-ESQUE dunk here. why all the 23s gotta duink on me like that?
-interesting layup animation. started at the three pt line. spun out of that and then cpu created the context and I went all the way to the hoop for an and1 layup
-described above. what would prove to be the game winning shot. Drive inside the zone, it collapsed. average shooter got his chance to shine and did.
-out of the timeout, cpu takes a quick jumper

I cant put this game down
