Re: This game owns my soul.

finished up the rematch last night. not pretty. but better than the first game. I challenge anyone to play with 84 georgetown against any top rated classic team and try to win. There overall is only an 85 so they may be technically a classic team but they arent overpowering by any means.

Another double digit loss. I was down 25 at half and really down on myself. But I kept at it and only lost by 24.. It was 19 at one point and I felt good.

    Some stats:

    Gtown(me) @ Duke(cpu)
    Final Score: 67-91
    21/56 fg 40/66
    38% fg% 61%
    5/15 threes 5/10
    20/35 FTs 6/14
    8 assists 24
    9 TOs 4
    13 Team Fouls 21
    35 total rebounds 33
    10 Off. rebounds 5
    3 steals 8
    1 block 1
    28 PIP 58
    12 bench pts. 44
    9 second chance pts 6
    9 fb pts 12
    ----------------

again I dominated the offensive glass with Patrick. He had atleast 20 pts with atleast a dozen FT attempts. The entire second half was played against the second team so thats where the 44 pts comes into play. My three point shot was better this game but They are just real difficult to guard, if not impossible. Patrick can only do so much and guard so many guys so he's pretty much useless as 4 guys converge on the paint. He had one block I think and really couldnt guard the paint as well as a player like Roy Hibbert, who in this game has a much better supporting cast, and his talents really come out there.

Next up will be 01 duke vs. a better quality classic team. A team that I can really truly compete with.

Just getting back into this game. When you say 75/5 speed setting, what settings are you referring to exactly? Is 75 game speed and 5 player speed? Thanks.

I SUCK at this game - but, I still LOVE it!!! I have only won one game since I picked this up 2 weeks ago. I don't have a ton of time to play, but, I am always losing close games, but, I don't really feel cheated in any way.

I really took notice today in regards to how effectively the CPU defense adjusts to your offensive style. Early in my game against Arkansas I was really penetrating and getting the easy shots to fall. Then Arkansas transitioned to a 2-3 zone and basically shut-down my inside game and went on a big run. When I was FINALLY able to adjust to their zone and go on a run myself, they switched again and stonewalled me.

I may not be very good, but, I love the challenge this game brings! The only problem I have is picking which team to use for a legacy.

I believe I read a few pages back that it is 75 game speed and 5 player speed

So I spent about two hours last night capturing 38 replays from the last few games of the third season of my UConn legacy, then through them into a mix, THEN realized everything was saved in AVI format so the five minute file is 1 GB, awful.

Anyone know of a free site that I can upload something that big?

megaupload.com could possibly work. but I bet you its just uncompressed and a raw avi. I would convert it to divx and drop that down to 10-20 mb

You should convert it to a smaller file size - use something like VirtualDub - http://www.virtualdub.org/

You should be able to make it small enough to post on YouTube.

Re: This game owns my soul.

The reason this game owns many souls is because there is almost no weakness of the game and it allows total customization. Here are all the things the game does right:

-With the new speed edit, the fastbreak game is better than ANY basketball game ever made.

-There is pretty good rotations and help D, MUCH better than 2k10.

-It is hard to dribble in the paint as it should be.

-The post game is very good; not on 2k10s level, but close.

-The crowd and home court actually is important in this game; have fun winning at Duke.

                    -I like 2k8s isomotion better than 2k10.

                    -Momentum is pretty good.

-All sliders work perfectly. There is not on defective slider that doesn't make a difference.

-The sliders make it easy to get the correct amount of fouls and field goal percentage.

-All ratings matter and make a difference on the court.

-When CPU does good you do not feel cheated. They just hit their shots or move the ball around effectively and take advantage of your mistakes.

-I can never go on a tear, and am forced to up my difficulty. Once I just won around 10 straight, thinking I had this game figured out. Next thing I know, I lose 3 straight and the CPU has caught up.

-Tendencies are awesome. Although small, they allow us to choose who shoots the most, and how some players play.

-You can really tell the difference between players with the appearance.

-The game even tells you YOUR tendencies. I just learned that I have bad shot timing, and rarely use isomotion.

-In legacy mode, I am even allowed to edit any teams' ratings.

-All the shows, top 25, bracketology, and mid major polls allows you to know everything about the NCAA.

-I can play ANY GAME. (EA!?!?!? LISTEN!!!)

-I can create, and play with recruits.

-The selection show is intense, and the crowd is literally split in tournament games making tournament games feel different.

                    -Coaching carousel is awesome.

-I am still seeing new animations after 3 years!!!

The only thing I think this game lacks is the Daily View from the PS2, some more advanced isomotion moves, off-ball movement, and great presentation in-game. That is all I can think of. If this were any other game I could make a huge list. This game is amazing!!!

Great post, RayAllen20. I just started using sliders (shame on me) and I can't stop playing. This game is amazing, it just makes me wonder how good a CHoops 2K9 or 10 would have been.

Your point about difficulty is dead on. I think I got this game down, my squad is over achieving, ratings don't matter....then I can't buy a win. Then I've been on a losing skid facing the #1 team in the nation after losing by 20 to an average team and we upset 'em. THAT is the mark of excellence for franchise players.

Also I have 3 games where I'm shooting .550 from the field thinking the sliders need a tweak, but then all of a sudden I can't throw the ball in the ocean and shoot under 35%. Greatness.

I'm in year 4 of my Auburn legacy and have built up a squad that is rated an 86 overall...LOADED in 2k terms.

I was 22-1 rolling folks..then lost to Vandy by 20 points and squeaked by Arkansas by 2 in Fayetteville.

It's as I said...it's the best Sports game ever made. The Presentation is top notch and STILL unsurpassed THREE years later (hello EA Sports i.e. Sunday Selection show, preseason show, WEEKLY highlight shows...all in 2k).

And all we have to do is keep updating the rosters each year and the game remains king.

First CH 2K8 game played since last year of March and for another college season I can say that CH 2K8 will keep me entertained. It just gets the fundamentals of basketball down so well. I was going to buy NCAA 10 but after hearing that EA won't support it with a patch to fix the issues then I wasn't going to support them.

Played a exhibition game between Notre Dame (Me) VS Texas Tech. Tried the game out with the 75/5 and it felt really good except for the lighting fast passing. Had a amazing first game though and a game that had tons of lead changes. It was tied after the half and Texas Tech got off to a 7 point lead (biggest off the game) and for the next 10 minutes I got to within 2-3 and they would run it back to 6-7. I made some adjustments and changed up the defense and got a 6 point lead myself. Barely won the game as Texas Tech missed a game tying three.

Also felt really foolish on a set play where TT ran to set up a wide open three on the corner. I was guarding my man when I ran right into a screen and just got flat out blasted onto the ground and TT nailed the three. Loved it even though I got abused.
