Played a quick game for the first time in a couple months (been on a FIFA rampage) between Gtown & Duke and had a blast. Used the same sliders I have been for the last 3 yrs and had a battle. Nolan, Scheyer and Singler were a handfull on the perimeter but they had no answer for Monroe down low.

The 'Showtime' camera is pretty bad ***, I'm going to use that for a while.
Just finished my Big East update for 09-10 (PS3 users can get it in the roster section if interested) so I'm gonna fire up a new UConn legacy and see if I can do better than the NIT which is where this year's real-life team is headed."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: This game owns my soul.
Been back playing this over the last week or so. Man, I never really got into Legacy mode that much, but the recruiting is insane. One thing I like is how when you sim your players kinda lean on a one guy if you have a young team. I'm in year 5 with Virginia Tech I believe, so I just lost the 2007 class which had about 7 players total and accounts for about 4 starters and 2 key guys off the bench. I have a really young team, all frosh minus my Jr. SG and Sr. C. My Jr. SG Dramane Sidney carries the team in the sims while the freshmen play somewhat inconsistently.
After a sweet 16 appearance, we're just .500 this year so far, but next year should be great. I recruited the number 2 Center in the nation, plus my team will be one more year experienced and improved and I'll return everyone minus my Center.
thanks guys!YNWAComment

Re: This game owns my soul.
It's funny to think about where I (we'd) be without this game. Live 10 was fun and good but the series is obviously now dead for sim gamers. Live 10 also lacks depth to play it for extended periods. NBA2K9 and 10 were major disappointments for me, hopefully Mike Wang can improve the controls and movement back to a 2K8-ish feel but improved.
But good ol' CH2K8 is still sitting in my PS3 and going strong as ever. A month or so I really had trouble playing this game, Live seemed to have ruined it for me because of the spacing, control and playbooks. But of course, as always, as I've said a thousand times - when you think you've had enough of 2K8 and the game is over the hill and you're finally going to put it out to pasture it comes back strong and draws you in, immerses you and impresses yet again.
With the new half court press settings and using configuration B or C to limit the isomotion effectiveness this game is practically brand new to me. I don't mean to brag but I love how well my Big East edits worked out for 09-10. Knocking down a lot of players/non-stars to the mid or low 70's to help make the stars stand out more and make it more difficult to dominant with players who aren't that good in real life. Many sim stats are damn near perfect for guys like Jamine Peterson, Tim Abromaitis and other surprise players this year. And when facing many teams they play more true to life than ever. Tendencies mean so much in this game and when properly implemented it's a thing of beauty.
I was screwing around looking at random things in my new UConn legacy. It's been said many times before but it's absolutely amazing how brilliant the recruiting is in this game. For the level of talent to the battles for getting kids to the geographic details. I'm looking through the BE signings for Year 1 and teams like Seton Hall have 3-star NJ and NY kids. Villanova is mostly Philly kids. Then Duke, UNC, Kansas have kids from all over the country.

I had put this game out to pasture a few months ago with the intention on picking up NCAA 10. But, once I heard there would be no patch, I gave up on that idea and focused on NBA Live 10, a game I really like.
But, after returning from vacation and reading the news about Wang leaving to go back to 2k, it really has left a bitter taste in my mouth and now, my desire to play NBA Live 10 has diminished some because I really don't have a good feeling about the forward progress of the series.
I popped back in CH 2k8 today and was very pleased with the game. I downloaded the 09-10 rosters (I believe the ones done here that were complete thru 12/09) and made a few small edits to my SU team and I am in hoops heaven again.
I'm also thinking about picking up NBA 2k8 on the cheap as well, just to import draft classes and whatnot. Does NBA 2k8 use the same Isomotion controls as College Hoops? I really hope so because I really like how they are handled in this game.
Looking forward to starting up a new Legacy with SU. I'm sure I will play Live 10 every now and again but as it stands now, College Hoops 2k8 is my game of choice for hoops.Currently Playing:

...and you know I 'was' a real big fan of NCAA. But there is no denying that CH2k8 is probably the greatest basketball game ever made simply because of its depth alone! I have to admit, I really had a hard time getting back into this game after playing the hell out of NCAA 09 & 10. I felt the player movement was just too stiff and it just felt dated (especially with the lack of momentum)....but like you said, there is just something this game has that can keep calling you back.
I do disagree with you about NBA 2k10 as I am thoroughly enjoying this game as well...but you are right about CH2k8...it's truly a classic game!"Basketball is my favorite sport

Re: This game owns my soul.
I decided to fire up my Wright State dynasty last night, but I figured it was time to move on from that team because conference play had begun to get boring besides two or three games. I decided to simulate the rest of the year, and see what coaching jobs I got offered. To my suprise, Duke and Syracuse offered me their head coaching jobs(Coach K and Boeheim were retiring). I decided to choose Duke because they had a young team, and they were the team I used to love when I was a kid.
I have one question though, is it possible to rescind a scholarship offer before the offseason recruiting begins? Because the CPU thought it would be a great idea to sign 2 SG's, and offer another one when I already have an amazing sophmore SG. Now I'm fine with the two that already signed, but I was hoping someway I could pull the last one's offer. I tried to simulate a couple times and see if he declined, but it never worked.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I bought this again late last week and played some over the weekend, fun, fun,s stuff.
I forgot how deep the legacy mode was, it's kind of overwhelming. I don't even know where to start.
