Re: This game owns my soul.
Same here. I forgot how awesome this game is until this morning.
Classic.
I think I'm going to find some coach mode sliders and get moving on a new coach mode. That way I can play and study while I wait for NBA 2k11 for the next month.Last edited by elprez98; 09-04-2010, 11:58 AM.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I love this game and just popped it in this weekend while Hurricane Earl was reeking havoc around the East Coast. My first game was the opening round of the 2013 NCAA tournament and we went to work on UTSA opening round.
Then Old Dominion, the 9 seed, was my 2nd round opponent. They had a SG who was a projected lottery pick, a point guard who would be selected in the 2nd round and a freshman 5* center who is looking like he could be a member of the freshman All-American team. We were down early, but eventually won the game by 7 as we shut them down in the 2nd half.
Sweet 16 we played against the hated West Virginia Mountaineers. They were hot early and they were smothering me inside. Down 4 with 3 minutes to go, my junior shooting guard Jerrod Richardson went on a personal 8-0 run on three consecutive possessions: 3-point bucket, and-1 dunk over their starting center (1st round prospect) and then a coast to coast layup. That was the spark we needed to get the W.
Now we play Texas in Houston at Reliant Stadium. I'm trying to decide if I should stay at St. John's after this season. I won the national title last season and could very well do it again this year. I have a ton of talent and I'm bringing in two studs, a center and a point guard, to go with a lot of returning players.
What should I do? Stay at St. John's or move on? Do I take a top team that wants to hire me or go rebuild? If I leave, should I make a side story saying my recruits are following me?Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I also like to rebuild the low prestige teams from the power conferences like Depaul, Rutgers, Oregon State, etc.
My other option, I'll find a team with uniforms I really like and stick with them, Wisconson-Green Bay is one I really liked...
One thing about being in a power conference is it gets kinda boring as you build such a dominant team. You recruit the perfect players for your playing style and end up crushing every team you play. Going back down to the small schools is more of a challenge and makes you feel like you accomplished something when you win a title with like American U, or pull in a major recruit with Liberty.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: This game owns my soul.
I may go with a mid-major squad and put recruiting restrictions on myself. But first things first, I need to focus on winning the title. Three more wins and it's mine!Comment

Two quick clips of 98 UNC vs 96 UConn (cpu goodness) and then five minutes of clips from 01 Arizona at 04 UConn (where the Gordon clip above is from)."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: This game owns my soul.
For those who don't want to watch the full five minute clip, here's nasty CPU highlight of Richard Jefferson posterizing Josh Boone plus the foul.

Re: This game owns my soul.
which team is CPU?thats some fundamentally nice stuff shown there. Responsive controls adds so much to a game. Instantly switching on Defense to get a helpside block is just so fun. there are no animations that take over. Maybe it's less realistic without "momentum" but the experience is ****.
Another video coming up. I swear what should be an hour game, takes like 2 as I replay almost every basket. There is instances of great play EVERY time out. its crazyComment

Re: This game owns my soul.
Haha, yeah tell me about it Rub. I tell myself I'm only going to save a few replays when I start a game and then I end up saving 30 of 'em. It's addicting, so much good stuff to show off."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: This game owns my soul.
some user vs. cpu highlights
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kk8nwqhOx5E?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kk8nwqhOx5E?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Rundown:
1/ User blocking foul. fall down animation. FOUL CALLED! no basket
2/ CPU bounce pass on the cut to the basket
3/ Marcus Fizer with the nice defense. CPU off. foul
4/Nice cpu pass once again. PROTECTING THE PAINT. Cpu shoots two FTs
5/ CPU with the alley oop. They are tough to contain in the open court. 6-8 70+dunk,std dunk rated player dunking over 6-3 tinsley
6/Open court deflection. CPU regains possession and quickly goes to the basket. User is capable of protecting the paint once again with the foul
7/User team steal. Tinsley dunk
8/CPU crashing the off. glass
9/User pick and roll. not always this effective. you try too much and there are TOs everywhere
10/Tinsley with incredibly fast hands
11/Fizer doubled. pass down low
12/CPU teammate gets the blocking foul on the and1 layup.
13/Tinsley had all the moves here with the double spin but cant get the points
14/User has the ability to quickly change to main under hoop for the "charge". Blocking foul is called. PROTECTING THE PAINT!
15/Similar to the above. CPU teammate this time gets the block on the continuation
16/ Another user pick and roll. It may seem like cheese but you really have to be selective.
17/CPU teammate block leads to a transistion three. Teammate wide open for the three.
18/90 rated CPU player pulls this crazy move off leaving me speechless
19/CPU with the fastbreak/transistion alley oop layup
20/CPU with another layup alley oop. I LOVE THAT camera ANGLE!
21/CPU steal. Jamaal is ahead of the pack. Perfect execution on the B button steal
22/Jamaal with quick hands once again
23/ Helpside CPU block
24/Mini cross over by Jamaal and the quick pass. BUCKETS!
25/CPU working the off. glass. FOUL called. No and1
26/Another cut to the basket pass for Marcus Fizer.

Maybe my favorite play EVER *in the above vid too

Re: This game owns my soul.
Yeah, they need a schedule editor so bad...I see they release NCAA 2010-2011 schedules today. If we could edit the schedules, this game would have so much more life.Comment

Re: This game owns my soul.
Haha, that through-the-legs, no-look shovel pass thing for the corner three is definitely one of the craziest things I've seen the CPU do in this game. That is awesome.
Great vid Rub, what speed settings are you using now?
Also, the Tinsley spin move and miss around 1:42, I have never, literally never, made that shot in 2K8. I don't even bother to attempt it anymore, it's such a damn dick tease lol. One of the nicer looking penetration animations but your guard cannot finish it.
