    One-and-Done

In my open legacy, I've been editing the top five recruits each year to reflect all the new one-and-done players, so I've been pumping them up until their ratings are 88+ and putting their potential at A+ so their draft buzz is Top Pick.

At the end of the season, they'll usually leave, but their stats are never great. I don't expect them to all put up Beasley/Rose or Durant/Oden-like stats, but last year's #1 overall recruit (a PG who went to Memphis haha) averages like 7 points, 4 assists.

How can I get them to be stars? I have the feeling that the CPU doesn't recognize to give them more looks because they're freshmen. Would editing tendencies fix this? I haven't touched those yet.

    Edit:

I got bored so I tested out the tendencies theory, and yeah, that's the key.

Started an open legacy with IUPUI, took two freshman SG, made them both 6'6" slashers, gave them equal stats so they were 91 overall, A+ potential, put one's tendencies up to 99 for everything but foul, gave the other guy 40 for everything but foul. End of the season, one guy was averaging over 20 PPG, the other guy was at 8 PPG.

    Okay so new question:

How do you recommend editing the top recruits?

I would compare the tends of the top freshman this year (Beasley, Mayo, Rose) to those that are incoming freshman, maybe add up the sum total, and compare to see if u notice any major discrepencies.

Thanks for doing this I think I'll go back and edit the top 3 guys at each position to actually score! The highest scorer when I simmed was 13 ppg I believe.

What I actually do is edit the top 13 HS AA so atleast 6 stay untill their Soph season and a about 3-6 leaves as freshman while the coulpe left over play until they Jr year.....I edit them like this: 20+ off awr, 20+ def awr, 99 Potential, 20+ to all shooting tendencies works out find.

While I can kind of understand why you guys do this on account of real world, I guess I really don't see why the need to do this on the game if indeed they don't over contribute as Frosh because of their tendencies. While these under rated tendencies might not reflect real life, they seem to counter the fact that they stay perhaps too long. They then start to put up huge numbers as a soph and jr instead of frosh so the game simply is pushing back their production a bit. I guess I don't see this being a big enough problem to bother with personally so perhaps you can explain to me why this matters so much.

It would be totally different if these frosh were coming in and dominating the league and sticking around too long but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.

i do it for the realism plus I use my draft classes for nba 2k8. I also do it becuz i dont want every power conf team maxed out on team chemistry while also having 10 HS AA on the roster...makes the legacy very unperdictable becuz even if a team bring in 3 HS AA's dat I edited to make them stay 1-2 years and all 3 players are rated 88+ on a team like duke, they might not even make it past the first round becuz of their lack of chemistry and experience while a team with basically 4* players made up of SR's and JR's on anothe power conf team may win the whole thing!

Aaaaah, I see, thanks for the explanation. I guess if that is what you want to see it is a good idea. I on the other hand want to see the POWER conferences and POWER teams stay on top and thus far my top 25 is pretty solid. I always had issues with NCAA college football because the top teams in the crap conferences would always end up dominating recruiting and eventually dominating the whole game and probably because of that I am now biased towards doing anything and everything to keep that from happening.

The way it is by default is like you said, it's rare for a freshman to come in and contribute a lot, most don't put up big numbers until their sophomore and junior years and then leave early if they're good.

But with the NBA's new age limit, recruits who could've been drafted straight out of high school are now playing a year in college, so now we've got Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, Kevin Love, etc. dominating the college level. The top recruits are now the best players at the college level, so I edit the top recruits in my legacy to reflect that.

Thought I'd bump this thread, does anyone have a good way of modeling the top recruits/one-and-done in CH2k8?

                      I incorporate osu's edits from here: https://forums.operationsports.com/f...xperience.html

But I just edit all AA's the same and let the game decide who leaves. I also tend to only increase certain tendencies to match a player's skill set.
