      Re: Recruiting Priorities

I input all of these settings into an 09 roster and simmed for 4 years to see how things looked. I did the same for my 09 roster with the settings I had. I'd say there's 3 major differences between the 2 groups of settings (for the power conference teams).
      1. Jukeman has a lot of athleticism settings.
      2. Jukeman doesn't have any rebounding, while mine has quite a rew.
      3. Jukeman has no none settings. This is supposed to be bad (some say as bad as size) but I've had decent results using none. The main time I use it is when I want a team to get better recruits and none setting seem to have teams go for the best overall recruits.

I simmed 4 seasons and entered how many of each position all the power conference teams got and how many 5,4,3,2 *s they got. Since I only did this once per group of settings (it was pretty time consuming so I didn't feel like doing more) I don't have many data points. I won't enter the entire spreadsheet with all of the teams, but these are the end results.

Judging from my past, I'm sure my formatting is going to be screwed up so if someone could repost them with proper columns, it'd be easier to read. The numbers are taken after 4 years and are the average of all players recruited during that 4 year period.

The first set of numbers is the quality of recruits per conference. What's important to me is that in mine the Big10 was better than in Jukeman's. Since I play in the Big10, one of my 2 main goals was to try to improve the Big10.

      My roster/Jukeman Weighted
      5* 4* 3* 2* Average
      ACC 1.3/1.6 4.8/4.0 6.5/6.1 0.6/1.4 3.51/3.44
      Big East 1.1/1.4 3.3/3.4 7.4/7.3 1.9/1.4 3.26/3.35
      Big10 1.2/0.9 3.2/2.8 7.9/8.3 1.4/1.5 3.31/3.23
      Big12 1.0/1.3 3.9/2.9 7.3/8.0 1.3/1.3 3.35/3.32
      Pac10 2.8/2.2 4.3/4.1 6.2/7.1 0.7/0.2 3.66/3.61
      SEC 1.3/1.4 3.3/3.4 7.5/7.4 1.3/1.5 3.35/3.35

This is the average # of each * per conference. IE. The Big10 has 1.2 5*s per team and 3.2 4*s per team with my settings. The weighted average is the average star rating of the players per conference. IE. For the SEC, the average rating of all players signed during this 4 year period was 3.35.

The next set of numbers (which is equally improtant, if not more important to me) is the average number of players per position for each conference signed during this 4 year period.

      My roster/Jukeman
      PG SG SF PF C
      ACC 3.7/4.0 3.5/3.4 3.2/2.3 1.9/2.2 0.8/1.2
      Big East 4.0/4.1 3.4/3.7 2.6/2.2 2.5/2.4 1.1/1.1
      Big10 4.4/4.1 2.7/2.5 3.0/3.3 2.4/2.6 1.2/1.1
      Big12 3.8/3.9 3.3/3.4 3.1/2.8 2.3/1.8 1.2/1.6
      Pac10 4.6/4.4 3.6/3.0 2.7/2.7 1.6/2.9 1.5/0.6
      SEC 3.8/3.8 3.8/3.5 2.8/2.9 2.2/2.4 1.2/1.1

IE. For the Pac10 with my settings, the average Pac10 team is made up of 4.6 PGs, 3.6 SGs, 2.7 SFs, 1.6 PFs, 1.5 Cs.
The bad thing here, is that with both settings (both of which are trying to get teams to be balanced) all conferences are PG heavy and very C light. For each setting, 1 conference only has 0.8 or 0.6 centers while the most any conference has is 1.5-1.6.

Sadly, I think the only real way to get some Cs and PFs on teams is with the size setting, but this really overdoes things and instead can make teams end up with 8 or more PFs and Cs and maybe 1 guard sometimes.

      EDIT:
Yep. The columns look as bad as I feared. Here they are again with only 1 set of data each (IE. 3.0 instead of 3.0/2.9). Hopefully it's easier to read (even though the columns will still be screwed up.

Excellent info jello, that's great work. Is there any way you can get these on 2KShare? Do you have 360 or PS3? I think your settings may already be available on 2KShare, is that true?

It looks like the numbers are quite similar between the two of you, it looks like it is impossible to overcome the guard-dominance, but in reality, it is much easier to find guards to fill the roster than it is to fine big men.

Again, great job, that is really useful information.

Nice! I always sim between 5-8 season tho but Ive never got the averages, I always just look thru teams....Im excited that the numbers are very similar, I was kind of worried that taking away rebounding would hurt in some way...With ATH replacing REB Ive noticed the 3* 7footers were going to the better schoold unlike before... I see alot of 2* and 1* giants going to the small schools now...There is no cure for the lack of bigs but our changes diffently treat it! There are just way more Guards being generated than the bigs which is realistic, the NBA dont even have many legit big guys...Im just glad we have the option to edit so I can make them SF's into PF's and those big Lebron type SG's into PF/Wing players...I assume you have some big 10 schools set to NONE?

Can you edit these before you start a legacy, or do you have to start and then edit?

              You can do both.

You do it from the Coach Profiles.

This isn't true, unfortunately. They must be done before you start a legacy. Once a legacy starts, you can edit the other things under coach profiles, but you can no longer edit their recruiting priorities for whatever reason.

This means that you really want to get them down first, sim a bunch of seasons to make sure you're happy and then start your legacy. Once you start, it's too late to change them without starting all over again.

EDIT: Just to clarify, you can, of course, change your own recruiting priorities during a legacy, but you can't for the other 300ish teams.

This would be great. I just got the game, don't really know what's going on. I'm guessing I can just install your file and be good to go for a legacy mode?

Did you do this already? I would love to get this in his Legend Killa's roster file.

Sorry, I completely forgot to do post the rosters. I will do it tomorrow afternoon, they will be under gamertag CLT49ers.
