Do you have a PS3? They just came out with a firmware update, so you will need to update your system to get online with games

Yea I think 2k has been down the past couple days. That kind of thing happens every once in a while but it isn't down forever just wait a little bit.

I'm guessing it has to do with the baseball game just being released. Might have some overloads on their server, because it's down for me too.

Come on bro, you can get 5 bags of hot cheetos with that lol 5 isn't that much lol. I ended up buying it today as well after reading this thread.

The game does have great depth. I think somme of us are being a little loose with the "gameplay still holds up" comments. I'd say if you don't play 2K pro hoops you might like the gameplay but if you play 2k11 my bet is you'll realize how dated the gameplay really is.
CH2K8 was a great game. Now, to me, it's just to old.

I might stick with the Cheetos.

you can sim through all those games which is what I always do.

I played enough NBA 2k11, but the Choops gameplay definitely still holds up with me. Sure, no stick for crossovers or anything, but that never really appealed to me. I'd rather just control the player and do basic crossovers and moves with the left thumbstick. Plus, I never really play a team that depends on a drive. I tend to play a Duke style (as hard as that is to type), where I get some penetration then kick out for a three or just pass it around until I find the open guy, then combine it with some UNC style (have to save myself and make sure I put in the UNC part) with a high tempo style, and not utilizing much of the shot clock.

CH2k8 is still solid, and my love does run deep for the game. Loyalty for this this title is deep. So I am very reluctant to let this love affair end, to the point where I might actually be neive when it comes to gameplay, graphics and the legacy mode.
Here is why:

The game has gone from great to good. thanks in part to the vast improvements found in NBA2k11 and the overall presentation/atmosphere found in EA's NCAA Basketball 10.

I played alot of CH2k8 up until this basketball season. This game is finally starting to show its age. The legacy mode is really done well and does keep me playing somewhat, but it can get a little tedious when it comes to recruiting, player development, etc. (but that might be due to my time constraints).

The animations, graphics/player movement and presentation has fnally brought this game back to earth, and thats due to EA's motion offense found in their college title, and the 2k's NBA title. Player movement is practically non existent in CH2k8,

2k8 does offer positives:

when it comes to a teams offensive strategy.
Some teams pound the ball insides, some play up tempo, some play half court. the 200+ teams found in the game do provide varying styles of play. So the CPU controlled teams do provide something different everytime.

The amount of animations found in the game is unbeleivable. Im still discovering new animations.

Collision detection is good.

The amount of sliders is unbeleivable. so you can custom fit this game to any varying degree.

The defensive AI in this game is also solid. watching teams collapse on a player driving to the basket is nice. watching teams adjust there defense to your style of play.

CH2K8 is my favorite game of all-time. I put a lot of hours into this game but sadly I began seeing aspects I couldn't look past anymore despite all the positives listed above. Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% sure that the issues (lack of movement on offense & presentation) would have been addressed in the natural year-to-year progression.

What this game does well (deep and customizable legacy, players that play to their ratings) still hasn't been matched IMO.

Just thinking about it makes me wanna fire it back up.

I think my favorite aspect of the game (that hasn't been mentioned yet) is just how great the arena atmosphere is. Anyone who has played this game knows how good it feels when you get on a big scoring run. The crowd gets crazy and you really feel like your players are feeding off the energy. I also love how you can be playing poorly, but then you slam one home or get a big steal and the crowd comes alive. I've had many comebacks start with just one big play (I've also been on the receiving end of a few of those on the road). To me, that gives the game such an authentic college feel.

That, along with everything else, is what has made this game last so long for me.

I love the ability to customize the conferences as well. This is nice with all the changes coming up in the next couple of years.
