Also, recruiting in the same area helps, you do get bonuses when you constantly recruit the same area.

      Re: recruiting help?

The biggest tip that I use that isn't listed is to look at 4 stars after signing week in season. You'll see some without offers. Go after a couple of them. Some will get scooped up by power schools, while others will fall through right into your lap. I have a career legacy as Texas Southern and got 2 of them my second season. On my 5th year, they're both 85 overall seniors.

My other Legacy with a friend, I've moved on to Ohio from VMI (signed about 5 4 stars at VMI in 3 seasons using the same technique.) Even at Ohio, I do this. I can sign a few on my own, but most are in state. Think I signed one 4 star PG (who came in at 70 overall, unfortunately. But my backup was a 59 the previous year, so I have no complaints) in season, then grabbed a 4 star SG who came in at 78 overall. Nobody recruited him, so I took a flier on him. Big sign and adds major depth that I needed.

I won national titles at Campbell and Idaho St., in two different legacies, using that very method. When I won with Campbell I signed two 4* guys who wanted to go to Duke and UNC but didn't get offered. Both were local players which I think really helped. By their junior year they were both studs at 87ovr and 84ovr. The were paired with other good recruiting classes. That equaled success for me. So many solid players fall through the cracks.
Relax, it's just a video game!

Exactly. They fall though, you grab them, and even if they're a 75 overall freshman, that's better that most of the stuff you're going to get at a small school anyway, unless you hit that lucky 3 star.

I just signed a stud 3* player. He came in as a 72 OVR, not bad for a Small Conference school..

I'm going to start my 65 OVR Jr SG over him tho

            (He's my leading scorer)

I felt cheap going after the leftover 4 stars, so i stopped doing it, same thing with playing America East when you take over a power conference school thats rated like an 80.

Yeah, when it comes to house rules, my buddy and I have them for our scheduling. None for recruiting though. But our nonconference schedules are easily the hardest two in the nation.

                    Re: recruiting help?

Yea my house rules for recruiting are:

                    1. Don't sign any 2* big men, they were too easy to recruit and dominate with.
                    2. Don't sign any world recruits.
                    3. Don't sign leftover 4* recruits at a small school.
                    4. Don't change the position of a player on my team just to get a recruit more interested because that would never happen in real life. You would never tell a recruit in real life that you moved a SF to SG and all the sudden the recruit wants to go to your school more.

                      Re: recruiting help?

How many here use assisted recruiting? I always did, but wondering if I shouldn't.

I would love to hear how some of ya'll recruit specifically if you don't use assisted recruiting?

DO you leave assisted recruiting on anyways?
Do you use email for your recruits?
I notice at the end of year I did not use my campus tour (assisted recruiting), and tried to but it wasn't offered to me?
Do you call every recruit every week?
Do you recruit on Sunday, or Monday (any other day?)?
Do you do anything on the weeks of signing? If so what do you do and what day?

I thought I understood recruiting but beginning to think I don't, and would appreciate help on how to do recruiting without assisted.

Do you use email for your recruits? Yes, why not? It's virtually free

Do you call every recruit every week? Yes, if I have the points
Do you recruit on Sunday, or Monday (any other day?)? Doesn't matter
Do you do anything on the weeks of signing? If so what do you do and what day? YES! Hammer away. Recruits usually sign at 100% interest if you scholly, so if I have a recruit at 94%, I phone, email, campus visit, etc. to boost him up to 100% interest.

I thought I understood recruiting but beginning to think I don't, and would appreciate help on how to do recruiting without assisted.

Offer scholarships the day before. I've found I get jumped in interest if I offer too soon.

DO you leave assisted recruiting on anyways?: No I don't, I never have it on. I am not familiar with what it does, only that I like being the one who spend all my points not the CPU.

Do you use email for your recruits?: Yes. They're practically free and give a tiny something so why not? Especially when they don't require charisma.

I notice at the end of year I did not use my campus tour (assisted recruiting), and tried to but it wasn't offered to me?
A recruit must be at a certain level of interest to get a campus tour (75-80%?), you must have the available time for all of your coaches, and you must have the right amount of points available. if you're wanting to give a campus tour, make sure it's the first thing you assign points to that week.

Do you call every recruit every week?
Only if it's someone I'm seriously pursuing. So generally, yes.

Do you recruit on Sunday, or Monday (any other day?)? I recruit the first day of the week as best I can. That way I don't need to worry about it later in the week. Sure, sometimes I get burned by other schools offering scholarships in the middle of the week but that's how it goes sometimes.

Do you do anything on the weeks of signing? If so what do you do and what day? Recruit as normal. If you're in a tight race try and saves your biggest point getter. Some people advocate waiting to give a scholarship until the last minute but I haven't tested it to see if it's any more effective.

Also, after the recruiting week is done take time to reevaluate your target list. Who do you still have a shot at getting? Who's gone? Who do you have a realistic shot of bringing up to 100% by the end of season recruiting period? I also take the time to check what recruits are out there waiting to be scooped up because schools have forgotten about them.

This is actually false. You do NOT need to have the available time for all of your coaches. I have offered plenty of campus tours when my coaches have 3, 7, and 2 time left, and then none of them lose any points in time. It's a small glitch that can be a HUGE advantage as a smaller school. I always do campus tours last. Just check how many points the tour uses and make sure you leave that many available to bring the recruit in.

The % is right though. It's either 75% or 80%. Cannot recall off the top of my head which, though.

                                75%.

It's not a glitch. The 35 point cost per coach is the cost of setting up a visit weekend. You can host multiple recruits on one of those visit weekends without having to pay the 35 per coach for each recruit, but the points are still taken from your overall number of weekly points.
