Gonna bump this since it's pretty helpful

At a school like Howard, should I be going for 2* 3* or 4* recruits?
At what point should I offer a scholarship?

I would go for the a 2* or 3* recruit IMO. It helps if you play the ABL games too just to get a feel for them. I run with Howard too and I've gotten a few good feels for a 3* and the rest 2* or 1*.

Also, and I only ask this to be curious so....because Howard is an HBCU, do you find yourself recruiting african-american players instead of another ethnicity? I just want to know people's opinions in all honesty.

I justify going after non-black athletes at HBCUs by saying "they're going there to study African American Culture".

Also, what's the suggested amount of recruit targets should I have? I had 15 at one time but found myself not having enough points to go around as I only played about 5 or 6 ABL games

I usually had about twice as many as available scholarships worth of seniors/international/junior college players. Then I would fill the rest of my board with underclassmen that I want to keep my eye on.

Walk-ons are players that join your team but do not fill have a scholarship. Look at it like a free player that does not tie up one of your scholarships. You don't necessarily get a walk-on because they are 100% interested in you. Sometimes that happens, but not all the time.

Has anyone ever found out what happens to players that don't sign by the end of the season? Do they just disappear?

This is probably obvious but I know some of them become walk-ons. If you look at the walk-ons, they have recruiting rankings and stars like any other player you recruit.

Most of them become walk-ons at a school that has a need for their position.

Can anybody confirm that winning helps in recruiting? I recruit DC/Balt area pretty heavy & last season even in-conference teams I thrashed won recruits over me in my area. I wanted to know if there was something like how "wants to play for a big program" is, "wants to play for a winner" ever play a factor?
