    Re: Your Guide to Better Sliders

    We were destroyed by UNC in their gym…as it should be. Really loving the sliders through 4 games. When I would coach games on default All-Conference I felt as though I had too much success too early. Not the case this time around.

      I might have to check these sliders out for coach mode, I haven't been able to find anything all that great yet.

      NoleFan are you using exactly what was posted?

          My latest set of sliders:

          For both Human and CPU...

          Shooting:

          Inside = 45
          Mid = 45
          3 = 50
          Dunk = 50
          Layup = 40
          All tendencies at default 50

          Attributes:

          Offensive Awareness = 0
          Defensive Awareness = 100
          Dunk = 80
          Ball Handling = 0
          Off Reb = 50
          Def Reb = 60
          Block = 55
          Steal = 50
          Speed = 100

          Gameplay:

          Team Unity = 50
          Dunk Traffic = 60
          Screen Success = 50
          Screen Strength = 50
          Help Defense = 0
          Help Recovery = 80

          Having the Speed at 100 and Help Defense at 0 makes driving to the basket a lot more realistic. The low Help Defense clears up paths to the basket more, and the high Speed helps players get through those open lanes better... And also helps counter the effectiveness of Lock On D.

              The Speed at 100 is under Sliders: Attributes, and deals with the aggressive button (R2 on the PS3). When you press R2 with Speed at 100 players are faster than before.

              As far as Gameplay Speed and Player Speed, under the Gameplay Options, I keep those at the default 50.

                I just tried these out for coach mode last night, best set I've come across so far. I'm going to lower 3P tendency though, my team shot 35 3's.

                    ^ Urm... Forgot to mention... I've been using a roster file with altered coaching tendencies, which change things slightly...

                    So... I guess keep that in mind, check the stats after each game, and adjust as needed.

                      Koshi,

                      Are you still using these sliders?

                        SLIDERS: SHOOTING TENDENCY- This does NOT actually change the way the computer plays the way I thought it did. I initially thought that if you had CLOSE at a high number the computer would attempt to pass into the post and try close shots, but that's not the case. It simply means that if the CPU has an opportunity at close range then they'll be more likely to shoot it from there. So unfortunately it won't change the strategy... Because I keep playing teams with good post players who end up only taking maybe 5 or 6 shots a game because the CPU won't run plays for that player.

                        SLIDERS: ATTRIBUTES: BALL HANDLING- I think this slider also effects how well players pass. I recently lowered this for the human setting and am getting more poor passes. The difference only seems to be slight, so I'm not entirely sure if this is indeed the case.
                        I don't know how many people actively view the sliders section anymore but I was hoping to get some feedback on tendencies and ballhandling. Personally I like ballhandling to be at least 50, but most sets I see have the ball handling lowered to create more turnovers. I'm not hardcore sim enough to care if the stats are 95% equal to reality so the turnovers aren't that big a deal to me, plus I have the CPU steal success at 80 right now so I still turn it over anyway.

                        Mostly, I want to hear what anyone has to say about the tendencies. I can't get them the way I want for CPU. I've been playing MOP lately for a challenge and it feels like I have to cheese just to stay competitive. What I mean is I use a 1-2-1-1 press set to Always, in order to squeeze out a couple "anticipation" steals to keep my team in the game. I had a house rule for myself about not pressing because it gave me an unfair advantage, but on MOP it kinda counters the CPU cheese.

                        I can't figure out how to use the fast break though. On other levels I'd set my coach strategy to play an uptempo, fast paced style and I get CRUSHED playing that way on MOP, I can't generate a fast break at all, and the CPU counters with an amazing unstoppable break. So I have it now set to stop the break, instead of start it.

                        As far as the close/medium/threes/drive sliders go I'm clueless. I really want to hear any suggestions from anyone on what to do with these. I've been using 75/60/50/70 and the CPU runs so flawlessly it's almost a crime. Like I made it too difficult against myself. I've read a 2k11 set that had all the shooting tendencies to 0, with the drive tendency turned way up... any thoughts?
