    Just a note - I have been tweaking all sorts of things on an otherwise decent slider set just to try and lower the number of possessions. It finally dawned on me that I could keep the good settings and just drop the half length. I will have to compensate for turnovers and fouls, and perhaps stamina/fatigue.


    So, I dropped half length to 18 to try it out. As expected, fouls are down and turnovers are down. But the game played great and other stats looked good, so this may be the direction I go (testing more). Because I worked out the rotations and MPG in 19 min halves with sim-length games also at 19 min halves, I believe my philosophies will translate just fine.


    If anyone has other thoughts (particularly, against) moving to 18 min halves, let me know. I would like to account for other roadblocks before I hit them, if possible.

      Quick note - As we close in on hoops season, I am hoping to post some findings I made. I finally stumbled on an unbeatable roster after 30-some seasons, stopped playing and started investigating. I discovered some interesting things about how CPU teams recruit, which was the root of my issue.


      I looked at real life rosters and corresponding CH2K rosters. In fact, weeks ago I tried to post everything I found and something glitched on this website and I lost my entire post when I tried to submit it... and I was too frustrated to retype it all.


      Hopefully, I can get some free time and share my specific findings, but football is dominating my Saturdays. I appreciate all the views this thread gets so I will commit to getting something up soon... hopefully around the time the new roster sets are going final.

        The game is currently in progress but I'm in the middle of a 2 OT game for the Nat'l title. Neither team is mine, but I love watching the final four and title game, and since I have an elgato I've been recording them. I'm so glad I have the ability to record thus game, the first over time title game I've seen in my legacy and the best title game I've watched. I'll post it once it finishes.

            LOL the VT guy that fouls on the 3-pointer with 17 seconds left in regulation.... You know that guy got ripped by the Hokie faithful! VT had so many chances to put the game away, too. Thanks for posting this.

                As I was incorporating some changes from BRASKA's thread, I started messing with extreme values on several sliders. I was watching some college games and really looking at pace and defensive positions. As a result, I dropped Def Awareness to 0 to see what would happen. It was extreme, but I liked the result.


                From there, I started working on pace and shot selection, while moving DA up to compensate where necessary. I realized I also needed to drop Off Awareness.


                It appears that Offensive Awareness really impacts the speed of the offense (ball movement, tendencies, general decisions, etc.). I decided to get the pace where I wanted it while still using some of BRASKA's changes. Although I love the free-wheeling feel of high Off Awareness, I think this slider must be set at the appropriate level for pace, then other sliders balanced around that.


                Currently, I have OA around 24. DA has creeped back up to 30 or so. Shot distribution is better and defense looks more realistic and less like magnets tugging at each other.


                Reducing Off Awareness also seems to help FT% go down to realistic levels. I have to monitor this over time, but so far so good.

                    Using BRASKA's changes and testing game pace and spacing, I have started beta-testing Version 6.0. I played an entire NCAA tournament with this set. It plays as true to ratings as I have seen, generally gives good results statistically. Main issue is far fewer close games. I will test a full season and see what I find.

                        GAMETIME CHANGES - Mandatory
                        Coach Settings:
                        --Defensive Pressure set to 100 for both teams
                        --Fast Break and Crash Boards set as per formula on Page 1 of this thread
                        In-Game:
                        Go to Coach Settings and Set all Defensive Pressure to 'Tight' and Double Team to 'Never' for every player.
                        Defensive Schemes:
                        --2-3 zones will result in far too many 3pt attempts. This is a necessary trade off, I suggest switching all 2-3 zones to 2-3 matchup. I also prefer 1-3-1 matchup to straight 1-3-1, but lack sufficient evidence to back that up yet.
                        --Triangle and 2 will not work in this set. Change this to Man defense.
                        --3-2 zone gives up middle penetration, but I cannot yet say that it is not a fair choice for a defensive scheme in this set.




                        NOTES
                        - Version 6 provides the most consistent player and team stats (compared with the simmed stats) because it provides the most deliberate pace of play. Games look like actual average college teams playing in terms of shot selection and general offensive and defensive discipline.
                        - Players at all positions appear to impact the game offensively. Individual matchups are emphasized in this set.
                        - Because offense is harder to come by, momentum swings are less frequent. This means more close games and less snowballing.

                            GAMETIME CHANGES - Mandatory
                            Coach Settings:
                            --Defensive Pressure set to 100 for both teams
                            --Fast Break and Crash Boards set as per formula on Page 1 of this thread
                            In-Game:
                            Go to Coach Settings and Set all Defensive Pressure to 'Tight' and Double Team to 'Never' for every player.
                            Defensive Schemes:
                            --2-3 zones will result in far too many 3pt attempts. This is a necessary trade off, I suggest switching all 2-3 zones to 2-3 matchup. I also prefer 1-3-1 matchup to straight 1-3-1, but lack sufficient evidence to back that up yet.
                            --Triangle and 2 will not work in this set. Change this to Man defense.
                            --3-2 zone gives up middle penetration, but I cannot yet say that it is not a fair choice for a defensive scheme in this set.




                            NOTES
                            - Version 6 provides the most consistent player and team stats (compared with the simmed stats) because it provides the most deliberate pace of play. Games look like actual average college teams playing in terms of shot selection and general offensive and defensive discipline.
                            - Players at all positions appear to impact the game offensively. Individual matchups are emphasized in this set.
                            - Because offense is harder to come by, momentum swings are less frequent. This means more close games and less snowballing.

                              I appreciate your contributions. I'm sorry I did not post these sooner, but I felt there were too many issues. I hit some sweet spots, so little changes in sliders are having noticeable impacts.


                              I started a new season myself and have barely changed anything through several games. The only thing I do not know is how these will play at small schools when playing other small schools, but the philosophies are sound so I hope they hold up.
