I haven't seen any gameplay footage yet. Hopefully some will come soon.Last edited by Skyboxer; 10-24-2005, 08:19 PM.Joshua:

Re: March Madness 06 Impressions
I don't want the "It's an absolute shame..." thread to turn into the new impression thread so I'll put the rest of my thoughts back where they belong.
I've played about five games or so. Just on varsity level, default sliders, 10 minute halves. The game definately is fun as all hell to play. I like that the CPU puts up a challenge even on varsity. I played three Top 25 teams and won each game by single digits with UConn.
We all know the graphics suck but that's not too big of a deal to me. The animations are pretty solid and that counts for more IMO.
On the default level there is WAY too much dunking. In my game against Wake I'd say that 60% of the baskets were dunks. Yes, SIXTY percent. But I'm sure sliders can address this problem.
Another thing that concerns me is the CPU AI and how much they go to their "go-to" guy. I played against Gonzaga and Morrison had 6 points on 3/8 shooting. Erroll Knight had 21 points and took 16 shots. Then against Wake Forest Justin Gray had only 8 points on 3/7 shooting and their sophomore SF (I can't remember his name) had 26 points on 13/15 shooting. And trust me, it wasn't because of the lockdown stick that these guys weren't taking shots. Gray was crossing up Marcus Williams left and right and was open quite a bit, but rarely shot. This is dissappointing.
I think the best thing about this game is the flow. There's no point in time where the PG just sorta floats out on the perimeter 30 feet from the basket like in CH2k5. The game moves very well and the CPU always seems to have a plan. It feels like they're playing a team game against you. They rarely come down and jack up shots (like in CH2k4 with the PG). The transition game is solid as well.
In dynasty mode, the Top 25 polls are beyond out of wack. I started the season with UConn ranked 5th. Before I played a game I dropped to 13th. I then beat #11 Gonzaga on the road and dropped to #18. Then I beat #15 Wake at their place and dropped to #21. Hmmm, I guess there's a personal vendetta against UConn this season, the pollers are tough to please!
Overall I think this is a fun little game that alot of casual gamers will have a great time with. I think it'll be a blast to play against another human (I don't play online so I can't judge that aspect of this game) and I'll play against my boy later tonight and see how it goes. It's certainly not for the hardcore gamers (which I consider myself) and I think even if CH2k6 has minimal improvements it will still be head-and-shoulders above MM06. However, this is a solid game that shouldn't be overlooked if CH turns you off for whatever reason or if you're not a big college basketball fan but you're jonesin' for some college basketball video action."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: March Madness 06 Impressions
Ehh, play on All Conference with some sliders that you can find on the sliders forum. I played Texas and Daniel Gibson had 20 points and 5 assists. He kept burning Byron Eaton(Oki State).
The great thing about this game is that the ratings actually matter. I find too often in 2k hoops games that speed ratings really don't do much. In this game I had so much trouble containing Gibson(speed rating of 85 I believe) with Eaton, who's speed rating is a 72. He kept coming off screens and doing back cuts and Eaton was just too slow to keep up with him. So I matched him up with Curry, but Curry isn't very good on defense, so he kept lighting me up!
I can safely say that this game is better than CH 2k5 IMO. It's not arcadey at all and the strategies in this game are what makes it great. The floor general playcalling is what really sets this apart from CH, IMO. There are few things, I think, that CH does better than MM.Comment

I took Ok State to Durham and almost came out with the victory. Curry was going off and got us out to a 10 pt lead. Then McRoberts slammed one and the roll was on. Redick followed with a 3 and curl to the bucket for a easy one. After there run the game was nip and tuck the whole way with me coming out on the short end by 5. Not bad for playing at Duke. Its very tough to play there. If you haven't already go and play there.
One question is what determines a player doing the triple threat moves? I do them every now and then, but most of the time my player just starts dribbling.Comment

Hellbent's sliders?
Also, another thing I forgot to mention. Maybe I'm an idiot, but I didn't notice any in-game strategy options during games when I hit the pause button. So there was no where to adjust double teams and individual pressure, etc. I definately like the play calling features, is there anyway to have more than three plays to call on offense? I'm a bit lost and the instruction manual for this game is only like six pages long."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: March Madness 06 Impressions
I think if you have a guy coming off a screen and you give it to him, you can do it. I'm also having trouble doing them.
And yes, playing at Duke is rediculous. They press, they run, they shoot 3's, they pound it inside and the crowd goes bonkers. If you have freshmen with low composure ratings, it's not very wise to play them a lot. They will make mistakes and giveaways.Comment

Re: March Madness 06 Impressions
Ehh, when you do the floor general playcalling, there are actually 6 plays. Press up and up again you see a 3rd set of 3. I'd suggest only keeping 1 zone play. The CPU offers up 2 in most playbooks, but I think 1 is sufficient enough.Comment

Re: March Madness 06 Impressions
17 year bump.
Just started playing this game for the first time via XBSX2. It's janky as hell but it's fun. The dunking in particular is out of control haha. Makes me miss EA basketball games. Hopefully with NCAA Football coming back we'll finally see another March Madness not too long after.Last edited by Landonio; 12-01-2022, 03:53 AM.All you gotta do is look up in dat tree.Comment
