Yeah good point about easing down the 3-pt slider, but just the fact that you have to shoot from further away from the goal killed the idea of staying with CH2k8 for me plus I'm burnt on CH2k8. If a dvd could wear out, then my CH2k8 would be ragged. I'm very disappointed that there is no 2k9 though. Actually my biggest gripe for EAs game is no SELECTION SUNDAY! How in the heck could they leave the suspense of that out?

I believe they do have a Selection Sunday that breaks down the brackets and shows he made it or what not, but its not as profound as 2k's.(no commentary)Yeah good point about easing down the 3-pt slider, but just the fact that you have to shoot from further away from the goal killed the idea of staying with CH2k8 for me plus I'm burnt on CH2k8. Yeah, that's what I absolutely LOVED about 2k8 is CBS Selection Sunday with the lifelike commentary and breakdown about the brackets. I'm sure EA will have this next year though.Comment

Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
Well, as for me, I am converting back to 2k8. I have tried to play this NCAA 09 as much as I can and I just don't think it is going to work for me. I miss all of the stuff from 2k8 to keep playing this game.DSM Transfer.

Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
I still think it's a huge stretch to say that NCAA is better on the floor than CH. Perhaps after playing CH for months on end you can find ways to exploit it. But I'm already finding ways to exploit the AI in NCAA. It's still a ways away from catching up. But it's the only choice if you need updated rosters and the new 3-point line.Comment

Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
Hey check out some of the CH2k8 threads man. There are supposed to be some updated rosters out there. Not sure how precise they are, but it's worth checking out if you are sticking with CH2k8.I still think it's a huge stretch to say that NCAA is better on the floor than CH. Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
In a sentence.. Great gameplay, but short on Depth of features.Well I'm thinking of converting from CH2k8. First I was wanting to hear from those who have actually played CH2k8 whats better about EAs game this season.
I was also wondering if someone could post a video/screens of my favorite team the Dayton Flyers. Are their new jerseys in the game? Is their arena in the game accurate? These are things I would like to know before dishing out the cash
any help would be greatly appreciated!Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
Honestly, I thought this game would suck. But, I bought it anyway because of the classic teams. I am sooo happy I bought this game! It has really surprised me. Sure, it has some goofy animations and all, but the floor spacing and ball movement and explosiveness of the transition game has won me over. I still love 2K8, but truthfully this game is more fun, and I never thought I would say that.Comment

Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
I like the gameplay and spacing of players in this game....However one of the things that I couldnt put a finger on until now that was really annoying me about this game is the passing animations. Some of them look fine but alot of other one's look extremely awkward and unrealistic. And the thing that bothers me the most is how the cpu will make these sticky paw one handed interceptions out of mid air that just look cheap and cheezy. It should result in a deflection or redirection of a tipped ball, or at least a bobble and then an interception. The velocity at which these balls get picked off with one hand just doesnt look or feel right.
EA's basketball games both NBA Live and the college game's achilees heel has always been the awkward looking passing animations that didnt have a realistically fluid feel and look to them.
I wish they would address this high on their patch or list of things to work on next year
Also the game suffers from a limited varety of rim reactions from shot balls. It seems like there are only a few different ball trajectory reactions on missed shots and only 1 net swish animation on made baskets.....In basketball, one of the most satisfying experiences is watching a deep 3 ball result in a tight net snapping animation with a sweet sounding...."wwwwhhewwtt!"
Or a climaxing mid range ball rattle and roll around the rim to silently fall thru
There's just no variety and excitement in ball physics. I'd also like to see the players battle for tipped balls down low and see them tip the ball up and try to come down with rebounds rather than have the ball just sticky automatically to one of their hands because their in close proximity to the loose ball

Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
I would say to get it based on the 1 game that I just played. I just got the game this morning when I got my HDTV(I love Black Friday!). I really like the gameplay, more than I liked 2k's gameplay. The tempo feature is great. I havent started a dynasty yet, I am waiting until I have more time to add someone as a friend and download the rosters. But I heard that the legacy mode in CH 2k8 was much more indepth, which I can easily believe because damn that game is so in depth, it is by far the best sports game I have ever played. The depth of the game is what makes it the best i have ever played. I love that game, and will still play it, but this game is excellent, as far as the game play goes, and the atmosphere is good also. The only complaint about the gameplay that I have is commentating. Brad Nessler shouldnt be calling Dick Vitale, "Richard" or calling Erin Andrews, "EA". I have never heard him or anyone else refer to them like that. Also, everytime the pop up of the tempo vs tempo shows up, Brad Nessler always says "Now, lets look at the tempos each team will try to set to todays game". After the 1st time the pop up appears, he should just say "Now lets look at the tempo each team is playing at, and how it compares to the tempo they would have liked to set" or something along those lines.MLB: New York Yankees

And you have posted the same rants trying to justify your purchase of the game too. It's a message board and his posts are on-topic, I don't see why anyone should stop participating in the discussion.Comment

i was unsure also,i've played the 2k games since they started on the dreamcast, but i'm back with ea sports this year, just have gotten so bored with 2k and that pump fake thing was driving me crazy, among other things...decided to get live 09 and i love it,and then got ncaa 09 and i think thats a great game, just feels like you have better control for fastbreaks and i love the option to dunk or shoot with different buttons...and trust me i have had problems with ea sports and there laziness...madden is a game that should be a powerhouse by now,as we all know...i'm talking multi broadcasting teams, sportscenter type things before and after games.muddy fields where the water is splashing all over the place and truley having an effect on the players, same goes with snow.and why can't these gamemakers just give us the choice to do whatever we want with these games,as far as editing players at all times, line ups and all, even for cpu teams.sliders how live 09 has are awesome,so many.anyways convert, the game is pretty darn good...NEW YORK METS

You hit the point spot on with what we are saying about laziness from developers. WE WANT DETAILS!! Didn't someone once say TRUE GREATNESS IS IN THE DETAILS????? If these programmers are SOOO smart, give me some efffin realism!i was unsure also,i've played the 2k games since they started on the dreamcast, but i'm back with ea sports this year, just have gotten so bored with 2k and that pump fake thing was driving me crazy, among other things...decided to get live 09 and i love it,and then got ncaa 09 and i think thats a great game, just feels like you have better control for fastbreaks and i love the option to dunk or shoot with different buttons...and trust me i have had problems with ea sports and there laziness...madden is a game that should be a powerhouse by now,as we all know...i'm talking multi broadcasting teams, sportscenter type things before and after games.muddy fields where the water is splashing all over the place and truley having an effect on the players, same goes with snow.and why can't these gamemakers just give us the choice to do whatever we want with these games,as far as editing players at all times, line ups and all, even for cpu teams.sliders how live 09 has are awesome,so many.anyways convert, the game is pretty darn good...Comment

Re: Thinking of converting from CH2k8
Yeah, both 2k and EA have good and bad spots in the games, but I have always loved the attention to detail in 2k games. Seems like they really try to make it real. EA is defintely getting better though, and I'm pretty happy with NCAA Basketball 09. Another thing, the 3pt line is updated unlike 2k sports. Maybe there is a patch for it on CH2k8 but haven't seen one yet.Comment
