    Re: Gameplay Wishlist

    - A better player reaction with loose balls, wish to see some dive to get and protect the ball like 2K does. Players are a bit too static.

    - Cpu tends to sink too much 3pt shots for close games, even with sliders tweaking.

    - Passing without directional button is poor

    - Too much dunks (again, sliders useless in that case)

    - The crowd really excite me in that game, more noise is even better!

      not sure if this has been mentioned or not(I'm typing this while waiting for a replay to save)..

      But during timeouts, I would love to have two options added(maybe they can be added via R1/L1 or L3/R3):

      * coaching points (no fouls, don't give up the 3, foul immediately, etc...)

      * ability to call a play/draw up a play during a timeout
      I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

        Hey, if we're gonna fix gameplay:
        LET'S MAKE THE TEMPO SYSTEM WORK.

        When you control the tempo, you are (supposedly) going to have much better shot percentage.

        Ranked Up-tempo team plays up-tempo game: shoots 30% from field, LOSING BY 20.

        Unranked Half-court team in SAME GAME is shooting nearly 50-60% from FG, almost 65 from 3PT, and is winning by 20.

        Do I smell a broken feature, EA? Oh wait, EA's gameplay is always broken because it'd rather monopolize sports games than face competition that forced it to actually improve its games on a yearly basis.

        I've played more competitive matches in NBA Showtime.

        P.S. Why, every time I get on a fast break, do my players feel the need to pass to someone else cross-court, but always hit the opposing center instead? These guys are in college, they should be smart enough to know how to throw a ball over something to get it where it needs to be.

          the tempo meter does work. Ever heard of execution? Just because a game is in favor of one team's tempo preference doesn't mean they should automatically be dominating the game. Let me ask you something. Lets say I play an up tempo style of play, and you played a half-court style. Would it be fair that all I have to do is press and force you to hurry and then grab the rebound or quickly inbound the ball and then just go down and jack up any shot only to watch it fall?

          I would hope your answer is no. Teams must execute in their tempo style to be successful, and just because a team doesn't play one tempo or another doesnt' mean they can't be successful at it.

            Likely mentioned, but I'd really like to see the CPU force the ball to top players more often or run the offense through them. IIRC, past EA bball games had a primacy rating which was designed for this very reason. Something like that would help top players get the higher point totals, but this feature should also be smart enough to recognize that if the top player is being double-teamed the CPU will then attack with other players.

              Gotta agree on the FT meter. I don't have an HDTV. Would like one, but I can't afford it right now. And the free throws are borderline impossible to hit. I have to squint just to get a basic idea when to let go of the button.

                  In all the reviews I have read when taking a jump shot you do not have to time your release with the shot button at its highest point. I hated the fact that I would have no control shooting and this was the main reason I did not buy this game.

                  So this is the main game play issue I would like to see fixed.

                    <o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" forums="" images="" smilies="" redface.gif="" border="0" alt="" title="Embarrassment" smilieid="2" class="inlineimg"></o:smarttagtype> Just finished my first year of dynasty... the game is fun but some parts are really frustrating because it limits how real the game looks and plays. Basically above all the team need to fix a few things and add a LOT a LOT more animations and this game will be amazing. The areas i think most obviously need work are:

                    Traps: There is seriously one trap animation and one trap breaking animation. One of the most frustrating things is trying to break a press. You will break out of a trap and all of the sudden they will catch back up to you, wtf?, which is confusing and then retrap you with the same animation. Please more traps, more trap breaking animations and more interceptions (obviously lower the amount you get in a game).

                    Lockdown Stick: I love the lockdown stick because it makes defense fun to play, but there needs to be a more animations that come with it (breaking past your defender, cutting the drive off, letting your man drive but still staying on his hip...etc.) Also needed is the elimination of your man suctinoing back in front of you. Also when I play off the ball I want to see my guy able to deny the pass a little better sometimes I will be standing in front of my guy and the lockdown stick does nothing.

                    Blocks: One thing that gets me on this game is that you CAN NOT get your own midrange shot in this game, you will either be blocked or fouled. I realize I never shoot midrange j's because i get blocked everytime. Even fadeaways are rejected, this definitely needs to be fixed. Also it would be nice to see more block animations.

                    <o></o>
                    Rebounding: Offensive rebounds are nonexistent in this game. Even with sliders all the way up I never get one. I will go ENTIRE GAMES without an offensive rebound. On top of this the rebounding really doesn’t look like rebounding. There needs to be much more effort into recreating the boxing out and the overall bustle that goes on under the hoop. Also lack of shot animations (ball trajectory) is also lack of shot of the rim animations which leads to high predictability.
                    <o>

                    </o> Inside Shots: There can never be enough shot animations inside. I want to see posts using the glass, more posts going up and getting contact, guards finishing against the glass …etc. (One thing I would love to see is a guard who gets a step on his man on the wing, his man stays on his hip all the way to the basket, tries to block it and the guard floats it off the glass.)
                    <o>

                    </o> Inside defense: Sometimes I just feel helpless down low on defense. As cool as the lockdown is on the perimeter something is needed on the post that feels better. Also blocks. On the inside block attempts sometimes just don’t even get close to the penetrator and I just feel helpless. If you press block your man should always lean towards the ball carrier. Also the AI seems just as helpless down low. It seems the more I hesitate and move around down low to confuse the d the better chance I have at getting a wide open layup which should be exactly the opposite. Basically the defenders should crash on the ballcarrier in the post.
                    <o>

                    </o> Passing: Lob passes and bounce passes should happen/be possible. Also would like to see more errant passes going out of bounds. Turnovers are all interceptions, i would like to see some of them come from bad passes (there seems to be only one errant pass animation).

                    <o></o>
                    Momentum: There really isn’t a realistic start/stop acceleration deceleration animation in the game so you don’t really feel the momentum of the players. Also PLEASE REIMPLEMENT THE PRO HOP. I feel like this would add an important element to scoring and deceleration. Sometimes while driving I want to shoot a floater or something but my player will just barge forward into a charge call. With a prohop maybe you could prohop into a floater, or pull up j, while going forward you could risk charge or maybe getting the call. Maybe a low rated player will commit a travel while trying to stop.

                    <o></o>
                    Fast break: It feels weird people don’t fill lanes right, point guard for some reason always clears out instead of receiving the outlet, and my biggest problem is that big men can run the break (as in dribble up the court on the break) like guards. Again momentum and a realistic acceleration should make these feel better.
                    <o></o>
                    Shots: why is there only one trajectory, this is confusing also there should be more bouncing off the rim.
                    <o></o>
                    Post Play: Just needs more shot variation there really are 2 shots posts have in their arsenals.

                    Hustle: College basketball needs hustle. Players need to HUSTLE to loose balls, and seem intelligent. Players now just seem lifeless. There needs to not only be logic for them to locate and pursue loose balls but acceleration that makes it look like hustle. Also dives would be nice.

                    Conclusion: MORE ANIMATIONS, REALISTIC MOMENTUM

                      Re: Gameplay Wishlist

                      Rebounding (and transitioning from rebounds) is the biggest problem with this game, it's what holds it back from being truly great. Here are the top 5 things I would change from a rebounding standpoint:

                      1. There needs to be more skill and timing involved with rebounding. Furthermore, the whole button system needs to be expanded. Here's what I propose (using the PS3 controller) :

                      -Triangle is your standard rebound button. However, if the button press is not perfectly timed (your timing window should be determined by the rebounding sliders), it should trigger a one-handed "tip/slap" animation. This frequently happens in real-life college hoops, where a rebound gets slapped around a bunch of times before finally falling into somebody's hands, or hitting the floor.

                      -Triangle + L2 (box out) is your aggressive rebound. This is what should be used when your guy has position. The downside of using this should be, if you don't have position, an over-the-back call is likely.

                      -Square is a putback dunk and Circle is a basic putback. Square is obviously a higher percentage shot, but the downside should be, if you don't time it perfectly, you have a good chance of spilling the rebound out of bounds.

                      Make rebounding something where you actually need to control your guy and time it well. On higher difficulty levels, there should be a downside to just letting your CPU teammate gather the rebound.

                      2. Better ball physics off the rim. This has been mentioned many times. There need to be long bounces off the back iron, bricks that just graze the front of the rim, kisses off the glass, etc. There is no reason, in this day and age, that bounces off the rim/glass should be scripted. This should tie in with another feature that many people have mentioned...having shots with varying trajectories.

                      3. Ball tracking. No matter how poorly timed a rebound is, there should be few cases where a guy just jumps straight up. Make them go for it no matter what, and have their head tracking the ball. In some cases, a mistimed rebound attempt should trigger a tie-up animation.

                      4. Less ball suction. Rebounds seem to just warp into the guys hands sometimes. There need to be some wild scrambles, rebounds that get spilled out of bounds, even some cases where nobody under the hoop even touches the rebound and the ball falls back out to the perimeter. The 'hands in post' slider should be used to tweak this, and by turning it down, you should have all kinds off loose ball situations under the rim.

                      5. Rebounding Logic/Strategy and the transition game:

                      -There absolutely has to be a separate strategy setting for 'Crash Boards' and 'Transition Style' next year. Having them all tied into Team Tempo is just wrong. Some teams (Illinois, for example) play a more deliberate style, but go hard to the offensive glass. There are plenty of times when up-tempo teams will box out rather than look for fast breaks.

                      -If you're looking to crash the board, guys need to be going for the rebound as soon as the shot is taken. Playing with a 4-Out team (like Duke), it's rare that anyone but your PF or C grabs an offensive board. Seeing Gerald Henderson frozen like a statue when Scheyer pulls up for a 3...just wrong.

                      -CPU controlled teams that play a fast break transition style should be looking to run AS SOON AS THE SHOT IS TAKEN by the other team. There should be a distinct risk/reward factor when you crash the boards against a team that transitions quickly.

                      This game engine has tons of potential, it just needs some polish. If NCAA 10 gameplay was nothing more than the NCAA 09 engine with these rebounding fixes, I'd be a happy camper. (Okay, maybe fix the zone D bug, fix the major collision detection issues, make the CPU more aggressive on the fast break and in driving the lane, add more loose-ball animations, and throw in some tie-ups....then I'd be really happy ).

                        Get rid of the suction. I can't properly run a fast break when my guy decides to cut back and face up on a guy rather than driving to the basket.
                        Put the pro hop back in.
                        Make the games more balanced. I shouldn't beat some bad team by 50 then play a 1 point game against a good team on the same settings.

                          MUST make ball interaction with hoop and rim realistic. Current state of ball super-bouncing off the rim after a shot is totally unacceptable and just about grounds for me not to play the game. Love the pace and tempo compared to NBA 2k but the ball & rim physics in NCAA College Hoops is just ridiculous and almost totally ruin an otherwise very commendable game (for me). Thanks

                            I say keep suction. But make few adjustments.

                            I think it's better then hitting invisible walls, or missing easy lay-ups. If there is going to be no defense, scoring will be too easy. Even at All-American shooting fg% gets out of hand, unless you make serious slider adjustments.

                              Suction kills the fast break. You can't even have a 2 on 1 advantage because even if you pass back and forth between the players the 1 defender will still manage to somehow stop you. You can't even lay up a shot when you beat your man because he'll magically be in front of you and contest your shot to the point of it missing. Its extremely annoying. It leads to stupid offensive foul calls too.

                                Well, the biggest thing for me is I want to have MORE control over my players. It felt like last yr there were some canned animations in which I lost control of my guys, and it was really frustrating when it resulted in back-court violations, turnovers, etc. I also agree with the post above about too much dunking. Finally, make it a little bit more easier to make 3's--the players missed TOO MANY open 3's IMO last yr.
