    Scenario for ya.....

IF Wade was to end this outstandin Playoff run with a Championship ring and MAYBE a MVP, would he pass up LeBron, T-Mac and A.I. on your lists of top guards/SFs?

Don't know but he would be in the conversation. But that's a big "if". Kobe made big plays in championship runs that directly contributed to Lakers championship. That is what deservedly(IMO) made him the top G in the NBA during that time.

Good reasonin. I left Kobe out for a reason but I should've known some how he would get worked into the equation. I'll give my opinion.....

I'd take Wade over ANY guard/small forward if he wins the ring. My main reasonin bein', the only way I see Miami winnin the title is if Wade continues with the 36/40 pt performances and if that happens, he's a lock for the MVP award. He's playin with a in Shaq's words, "40%" Shaq and he's carryin him on his back. Before this series myself included had Prince as a dominant defender, and Wade has hushed that up. Prince excelled at makin jumpshooters struggle but Wade realized after Game 1, he HAS to get to the basket, and right now he is doin that with ease.

Good post. It's interesting to compare this year's Heat/Pistons series to last years Lakers/Pistons finals. On one hand, Shaq was more dominant and the Lakers still got embarrassed in the Finals. Does that fall on Kobe? I don't think so because even though he was slowed down, Kobe was still effective. The role players on the Heat have stepped it up big time in this series while the Lakers sorely missed Malone and GP was getting owned.

With that said, I really don't know if Wade surpasses any of those guys. I still think Kobe was terrific 2000-2004 and still is terrific(although an asshat) and if Lebron and AI played with Shaq's presence there teams would be in the spot the Heat's

Please tell me this is a joke... He hijacked the team. He took 30% of the shots only shooting an abysmal 38% while being burned on defense by both Rip hamilton and Chauncey Billups, not to metion Rip out rebounding him...

I hardly call jacking up fadeaways from 22 feet out and being continually stripped trying to split double teams effective.

I know, because none of those guys played with Shaq in his prime. This thread is already moot and biased... no surprise there

as my boy lj says , what evidence is there that Kobe is better this year ? He let his team fall apart without Shaq - closing the season a dismal 2-19. And he couldn't get it done with Shaq last year against the same pistons team that wade is lighting up this year. Prince says Wade is harder to guard than Kobe. Wade shoots a higher percentage than Kobe - he shot a higher percentage this year than Kobe ever has and he's shooting .500 thus far this playoffs while averaging 29.2 ppg.

You can argue Wade's stats have been helped playing along side Shaq. But shouldn't you say the same thing for Kobe?

Not only that, I wouldnt call Wade a more complete player than any of the leagues top guards.

Why must every thread turn into Kobe analyzin? I left Kobe out because I know a lot of you don't even have Kobe up there so thats why I didn't include him.

This thread is about D. Wade and him maybe passin up the other guards up top. Can we shift that back into focus and leave the Kobe-analyzin in all of the other threads? Good god....

Who else was he going to pass it to???

You can only give it to Shaq so much, Malone was gimpy, and GP was stinking up the joint. So who else? Fisher? George? Walton? Rush? Those guys drew blanks. Shaq and Kobe virtually had to win that series by themselves and Detroit was too good of a defensive team to let that happen.

Not only is Wade getting the job done for the Heat. But you got the Joneses playing good ball and then Zo and Haslem playing good ball too. Last year, the Pistons plan was too simply cave in on Kobe and Shaq and let the others beat you. That won't work for the Heat this year.

Sorry about all the Kobe talk. Like I said, Wade would be one of the best, it would be hard to put him over someone like AI or Lebron.
