I think they may draft an athletic center like Johan Petro of Pau(I believe a Spanish team). He's very athletic, like a Jerome Moiso type but he's raw, but he has loads of untapped potential.

It is hard to accomplish since if your PG is playing 35 minutes of the time, you don't need a defensive PG to back him up, most likely the backup won't be effective as he is sitting in the chair most of the time and will cooled down after warm up. And letting that PG play tyhe SG position will also be difficult seeing as that position has 3 players fighting over it. Joe, Jim and Q.

If D is expected to happen at the PG position, it has to start to the player who is working on that position full-time. And adding big men on the C area will be hard to drop by seeing as not many are left. Well, I mean there are a lot of big men, but how many can play D. And if there is, teams will be flocking over that guy right away. The draft may gave PHX a chance to land a rough diamond but it rarely happens. Big Ben was not the player he is now back then, so if PHX will be lucky enough to have a Big Ben in the rough, they will have to wait. PHX was in search for a Big Guy before (to save them from Shaq Attack during his prime) reason why they drafted Tsakalidis back then but it failed.

What I am trying to say is, it will not be as simple as adding this kind of player to this position and pick a FA that can play like Rodman. Many consideration will be considered seeing as they will not be the only team looking for such kind of player. And trades, it doesn't work like a video games, if they need a one of a kind defensive ace player like Bowen or Artest, it is either that player is already lock to that team, or it will cost them dearly.

And PHX status as a contender team will only serve them for so much seeing as there is also SA, MIA and DET looking forward to improve there team even more. PHX nucleus is young (except Nash) and so is the SA nucleus. So there will be more classic matches from both of this teams.

Yeah, if anything, I expect this Suns/Spurs rivalry to be the next premier rivalry in the league. There is lots of fiery emotion and GREAT games (who can forget the OT game in the regular season) b/n these two, and I think it's gonna be great basketball.

I really wonder where we're gonna go with our draft pick this year. We can draft another big (my preference) or go to the backcourt and get some more depth.....I really dont know.

I think one of their wing players (except for Nash and Marion) is expendable for trade in order to get a guy in the middle. Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson, and Jimmy Jackson are all contributors, but there is no need to have 3 of them.

Gotta trade Q. JJ is a good guy to have off the bench, but you also won't get much value for him.

Reading this thread, why do people not give credit where it is due. The SPURS were CLEARLY the better team. Why? Tim Duncan. Stop yappin' about if this and if that.....Duncan has two championships and is on his way to his 3rd.

It seems like every year, in every sport, its some insanely, high powered offense that trucks thru the competition in the regular season. And every year they get stiffled by some overpowering defense and the high powered offense fans come up with IF this and IF that. Give Duncan and Co. due credit, dammit.

I'm not big on baseball or hockey anymore, but weren't the Red Sox and Lightning high powered offences that did pretty well in the regular season?

                That'd make the 4 major sports 2-2.

If they go that route in trading one of their 5 starters, then I'd be almost willing to bet its not Joe Johnson (and obvious not Amare or Nash). Johnson is the best perimter defender, 2nd best playmaker, backup PG, their best shooter, as so on. They seem to value him a lot.

Even though Marion played great he's a few years older than Johnson and is making MAX money. They obviously would look to trade Que first but considering they wont get very much for him, Marion is prob. the next best choice.

I don't know if I wanna trade Quentin this offseason. To me it's like, all that effort to sign him, and we're giving up our system and our style just b/c of one trip to the WCF that ended up in us losing in 5 games? It just seems pretty stupid and a waste of the pursuit for Q. The season was pretty successful for a one year turnaround, I'd say.

It's not like the style doesnt work, we need to TWEAK things, not change the makeup. I think our defense can be very good if it wants to be, the question is whether we have the drive or not. I think the drive for defense needs to be improved on, not necessarily the players. I think our draft pick and a possible role player will be enough. If it doesnt work next year, THEN maybe do something more drastic.

Improvement on D, you will have to sacrifice a part of your offense. If you notice, majority of the great defenders (statistics not counted) are not scorers like Bowen, Rodman and Big Ben to name a few. They are the background of the team and for the most part they don't get recognition for example Bowen compared to someone who can drop 20 ppg.

If they wanted to land a descent defender Richardson and Jimmy will the sacrifice to get that potential prospect. Unless they won't mind getting rid of Marion or Joe. Nevertheless, it will be interesting what the PHX office will do.

But I dont mean a physical improvement on D, I mean a mental improvement. We have the defensive players if we need to, we just need to have that defensive passion we showed in the last two games against the Spurs and we'll be MORE than fine.
