    CBA Talks- Now or never

    Stern says..

Could be tough talk or could be the beginning of the end. Either way, I think Billy Hunter is wrong. The owners have reduced the age limit proposal to 19 yrs and the contract lengths to 6/5 (from 20 yrs and the current 7/6) Thats more than reasonable.

Dammit, just extend the current deal one more year and start negociations for the 2006/2007 deal as soon as possible. This will give them one full year and more to get something done.

You know that wouldn't work. At this time next year there still wouldn't be anything done and they would be pushing another lockout deadline. You'd think the owners and the players would learn a thing or two from their last lockout, not to mention the disaster-formerly-known-as-the-NHL. I'd like to see the 20-year limit along with the 3/4 year max contracts.

        3/4 year max contracts.
I disagree. 5/6 is much more reasonable... 3/4, you're getting into a position where you have to max out a player every 3/4 years. That has to suck having to negociate a new contract with a great player in such short periods of time.

What negociations, max contracts leave little room for it anyway.

            [negociate]
Yes, maybe 3/4 is a little on the short side, but 5/6 is still too long. How about 4/5 then?
