Jonathan Bender on his way to Laker land..

    you heard it here first..

The Pacers Jonathan Bender is indeed on his way to Los Angeles along with the 17th pick in the draft. In return, the Lakers will send Devean George, Slava Medvedenko and a second-round pick. Expect the deal within a day or two of draft day, although it may not be triggered until June 28.

Good trade for both teams, in terms of cap space.

Deavan George is a good pick up for the pacers, and the 17th pick is good for the lakers

I don't believe that its true. As a Laker fan I would love this deal, but I can't see why Indiana would make this deal. They would be getting hosed.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

This can't be true. This years draft is pretty deep and giving it up for George and Slava, PLUS Bender who has more upside then George is a joke.

Fellas you guys don't have to believe it. But when it does go down I will be saying, I told you so....with a smile on my face. It's been confirmed all over here in Southern California and sports radio hosts have also been confirming it.

Hoopsworld? LOL. I'll believe it when I see it. That's insulting the intelligence of one of the better executives in the NBA, in Donnie Walsh. I just won't believe it.

It's actually an excellent deal for the Pacers...

It would give them a lot of expiring contracts. Think that's worth nothing?

Last year...Detroit got a guy called Rasheed Wallace at the trade deadline for expiring contracts.

This year...Jersey picked up a not too bad player called Vince Carter for expiring deals.

Expiring deals are worth their weight in gold

All 3 deals are expiring? I'll check out Realgm and see if that's the case. If so, then my bad, the deal isn't as bad as I first thought. But Bender is 24, still has time to be a decent scorer and plus, they are adding a pick? A good one too in the 17th pick, in a draft that most GM's, Agent's and scouts are saying is very deep...

While i'm sure it's intriguing for the Pacers to get all those expiring deals, this is far from an excellent trade.

The deals might be expiring, but how much is Bender against the cap?

Im not sure what you mean by all over SC and sports radio.

As it stands, its nothing more than a rumor, and coming from some Lakers source at that.

I'd take this with a grain of salt.

Whenever you see shows like The Loose Cannons (Lakers homers) and probably The Big Show (Mason and Ireland... more homers) You can't take it at face value.

There are credible sources out there such as ESPN radio's McDonnel Douglas show, and ESPN.com and insidehoops itself who actually gives you the real scoop.

The last time this happened, Jack Haley had Boozer going to Utah for Caron and Vlade.. Hoppshype.com backed him up, and no other credible source would acknowledge the same.

For the time being, this is nothing more than a rumor folks. I'd keep my eyes on more credible sources than benmaller.com and hoopsworld.com

Here's a good post explaining the trade:

One is the 17th pick which everyone has stated already.

The other is cap space relief for BOTH teams.

Indiana is due to dump about $20 mil or so in salary after next season. Devean and Slava's contracts give them another $8 mil.

Bender's deal ends in 2007...the same as Brian Grant.....the same as Chris Mihm.

                        2007
Chris Mihm will make $4.2 million
                        Bender will make $7.9 million
Brian Grant will make $15.5 million

That's almost $28 million in expiring contracts in 2007. With that kind of dough coming off the books all at once, the Lakers are sure to have some good funds with which to woo a good if not great FA.

                        Everybody wins in this trade.

Stipulations or not, you're hard pressed to find a credible source for this move. As stated previously, same could have been said for the Boozer deal.

All Im saying is, watch the right sources, and dont believe everthing that is printed.

Bender has two years to go worth around 20 mill.

Now...promising player or not...that's a seriously bad deal.

This would be a great deal for Indy.

They dump a serious underperformer...and, let's face it, they're not exactly short of forwards (Jermaine + Ronny)...and get a tonne of trade / cap flex.

Bender just hasnt been healthy. For those two Laker rejects, its suicide for our team. I dont believe this. Bender has an upside. Those two guys dont. They only were productive and winning when Shaq was in town. When he left, he apparently took their games with him.

                              Lakers keep your trash.
