I wouldn't say so. In last year's game there definitely was - the CPU would suddenly start draining every single 3pt shot down the stretch while your own players would immediately lose the ability to even make dunks (I once did an experiment and tried 3pt shots every time down the court in the 4th quarter. I missed something like 30 in a row, many of them open and with good long range shooters. I was stupified). But this year's game feels much fairer. You do have to stay on your game and make good plays because you'll get pushed hard sometimes, but it's not outrageous and it seems to cut both ways.

ID2002 cheat like hell in the Q4 but it's fixed in ID2003, the AI is gradually getting up the intensity through out the match.

For those who are still can't make decision between 2k3 and ID2003, here's my 2 cents:
- if you've been playing the 2K series since the Dreamcast days, pick ID2003 because 2K3 won't be any challenge to you anymore.
- if you care about the graphics and presentation more than anything else, get 2K3
