IMO, Houston should send MJ23 a Thank You card every day of the week. Now I'm not takin anything away from them because you have to capitalize when an opportunity is presented, but there is no question in my mind that if Jordan hadn't retire that first time Chicago would have 8 Championships.

Hakeem and Jordan would have canceled each other out, Pippen would have the edge over Drexler but i think that Houston had better role players. Noone would have been able to stop Haekem at allAs Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment

I simmed the match up on WhatIfSports.com and used the 92-93 Bulls against the 93-94 Rockets (year before Drexler) and made the bulls the home team and used the 2-3-2 format heres the results and they're very interesting
93-94 Houston vs 92-93 Chicago
game 1 @Chicgao
houston 91
chicago 102
game 2 @Chicago
Houston 112
Chicago 99
Game 3 @Houston
Chicago 82
Houston 84
Game 4 @Houston
Chicago 103
Houston 114
Game 5 @Houston
Chicago 96
Houston 99
Houston wins 4-1
Hakeem Olajuwon celebrates as the Houston Rockets win the NBA Championship over the Chicago Bulls 4 games to 1As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment

Re: Had Jordan not retired the first time do you think...
You can't rely on a website to tell you how the series would be done. It's like taking a stupid personality test to get a job, they can't say who you are or how you work by a test. It's all opinion anyway, I think bulls would've done it 8 times because MJ was at his best, and he was progressively just getting better.Comment

Re: Had Jordan not retired the first time do you think...
You funny. Well the Knicks did beat the Bulls in the playoffs in '94, but it took them 7 games to do it, with home court no less. For some reason I think a particular #23 would have made the difference in that series. In '95 they lost to Orlando in the playoffs and it took the Magic 6 to do the job. Once again Jordan would have been the difference maker in tha series.Comment

Originally posted by mvb34Is hat purpose of having home court advantage?? Lets not forget the year before the Knicks probably win that series if ref would call one of those fouls againt Charles Smith in game five. Michael Jordan played in the series against Orlando.
Probably? Suuuuuuuure...
There were no fouls on Smitty. He just got his sh*t stuffed back in his face. Three times.
And MJ in the '95 Orlando series wasn't 100% in basketball shape. Look at what he did to Orlando the following year.
Now tell me Orlando would have beaten the Bulls if MJ didn't retire the first time.Comment

Re: Had Jordan not retired the first time do you think...
Has anyone pointed out the obvious fact that Jordan retires and, voila, someone not the Bulls wins, then Jordan comes back and, voila, suddenly no one can beat the Bulls for three more years (and no, Jordan didnt have his legs yet in that partial year he played where they lost to the Magic).Comment

Hakeem would have destroyed every big man the Bulls sent his way, and if Jordan came down to double KJ or Maxwell would have nailed the trey. Or if Rodman came down, then Big Shot Rob would have sank the dagger. Dont forget about Otis Thorpe, a true banger who fought for every inch of the paint.Comment
