Clay remember the forum you're in. Most of these people aren't basketball fans. They're fans of a certain player(s). They could care less about the Finals if their favorite player's team didnt make it.

Nah its just good basketball. Fans today want a player to score 60 more than they do a team to have 7 players score in double digits. Hence the reason the Suns and Heat are at home.

Thats only part of the reason. Lots of guys in here dont know much of anything about basketball. How many guys do you think studies teams and how they play as they watch, or are they looking for the next dunk.

The media doesnt help. Its tough having them shove "the next best thing" down your throat all season, then give a warm up session to the teams now playing exactly at the time they start.

I blame it on SportsCenter. LeBron was hyped up by ESPN starting with his Junior year of high school. And when you see a 12 second highlight of a regular season game, its dunks and buzzerbeaters. Then when the playoffs come around, they have the nerve to emphasize how SA is a true team.

Its moreso the 24hour coverage and loops of the show. I posted a Red Auerbach interview where he spoke about some of these things ruining the game and noone even responded or gave a thought on that.

He had some interesting points.

Hockey, of course, has chosen to disappear completely -- although we have started to hear rumblings that Appomattox is at last approaching for union and management. But the NBA has proved this championship season that a whole league can disappear in plain sight.

I mean I am as amped as ever for this game and I'm a Laker fan. So in reality I should probably hate BOTH of these teams. But I like the way these teams play the game, so I've enjoyed the series.

I've been constant in tryin to add some excitement to this series on this forum, but its pretty damn hard to when MOST people on here just want to bash, bash and bash. If it isn't goin off on Manu, its tellin us about how Duncan is chokin or how Rip is overrated. I mean so far the biggest argument about the series has been is ROBERT F'N HORRY a HALL OF FAMER??? So I've just continued to watch an excitin' series and look for my opinions and discussion about the series on other sites.

I don't know what it is but the NBA Forum just lacks TRUE NBA fans. Its like people just like THEIR guys and THEIR teams. So if a discussion isn't involvin' either guys/teams they love or guys/teams they hate, they aren't interested. Take the NCAA Basketball Forum for example....Even after Duke, UConn, Kentucky etc. was eliminated, you still could find fans of those teams postin and discussin the next matchups without some obvious hate for one of the other teams.

I think this forum has made a true improvement, but I agree with Clay. You look on MOST basketball forums or Sports forums and you'll see the entire page filled with Pistons/Spurs.

Maybe we should quit makin "OFFICIAL Playoff Threads" because it seems as if that takes away from some issues and topics that could be turned into quality threads....

I think that's a lot of it. What new kind of new stuff are you supposed to post when there's one thread for it that you're supposed to keep it in already. On the other hand I sort of like having one thread, but for the championship it might be better to have one for each game.
