    Re: Nate McMillan to Portland

Some people are saying he took the job because the expectations are so low early on. Even though Paul Allen is willing to spend a lot in free agency, nothing is really expected of McMillan in the first two years except developing the HS players. If it doesn't work out for him in year 3 or 4, he would have already pocketed 14 mil.

What I don't get, though, is why the Blazers think McMillan can do better than Mo Cheeks. Both have the same type of character and makeup. Cheeks couldn't control all the headcases, what makes them think McMillan can?

Nate felt disrespected that he didn't get an exstension during the season with the sonics. Also he will be the 2nd highest paid coach with the blazers. It was not a hard choice for him to make.

disrespected? BS. protland offered almost 2x as much to coach them, its a very simple decision.

If the Sonics wanted him so badly they should have locked him up long term before the year started. Why come with the big offer so late in the game? They should have put the best offer on the table early and sign him or move on. Nate does get a talented if not troubled roster in Portland and with Allen as the owner knows that he spends money to get players.

SO you're mad at him for taking more money when you stated yourself that there is no loyalty in pro sports. What if he had a bad season next year or the next 2, he gets canned and nobody is offended or terribly upset, but because he did what was in his best interest he can go to hell? Wow. I understand your frustration, but hate the system not the coach. If Seattle wanted hiim badly enough they would have matched the offer. The just re-upped with the GM.

Oh so Mo Cheeks and McMillian are the same person, thanks for clearing that up for me.

I love it, I can't wait for next season. I also saw Nate McMillan in person today, and they handed out free hotdogs and popsickles it was great.

Not to be rude or mean in anyway, but you suck.

the thing is before this season, Nate didn't prove anything. I don't blame management for not giving him an extention that he wanted at the beginning of the year. And I don't blame them for offering him a fair contract at the end of the year. Portland just offered a lot more and overpaid him.

im suprised, i didn't think the blazers would be this succesful in getting a coach. hopefully he can build them up into contenders the way he did with seattle, it will take a LONG time though.
