NBA 2K3, unstoppable point guards and blocking fouls...

At first I was having problems stopping PGs, but now I've gotten pretty good at that. But now they've found new ways to get around it, and are now getting fouled everytime the drive by my defender trying to either take a charge or block the shot.

Is it just me or is this out-of-hand?

Yea, it is just you. You even said it yourself, "they've found new ways to get around it", meaning that at least some of Visual Concepts' new "learning" system is working. As far as getting fouled every time, there was a previous post on here regarding the charge/block fouls AI slider. Moving to the left means more charging foul calls, moving to the right means more blocking foul calls. If you want to tone down charging/blocking fouls in general, theres another slider for that too.

and if you are pressing the steal button a lot...stop. just play up close to the pg and stay in front of him. no need hammer the steal button. try to steal in the passing lanes.

How exactly are the guards getting by you?

One tip is that you actually don't have to move all that much when stopping crossovers and spins. Back off a little and try to keep the circles beneath the players lined up rather than the players themselves. Then they might just shoot in your face, but at least they won't get past you

I get burned by the crappiest PG's in the game. Emmanual Davis lit me up as did Chris Whitney. It's annoying as hell.

Dude, I for one agree with you. THe point guard never pass and shoot 50% of all the shots in the game. The computer PG brings the ball down and don't even look to pass, and I double up on him and he shots any way. DOn't matter who it is, the computer PG ave. something like 40 pts a game. All you can do is try to D up and hope he miss!

It's easy to stop those guys. You just need to make sure that you're stationary and not moving when you are hold the L button (XBox). If you're moving while they're driving, then you're definitely going to get called for a blocking foul.

I'm not getting lit by every point guard. I generally find that the stars take the shots in 2k3, or a player that gets hot at the moment. If I play against the Celtics, Pierce and Walker easily take at least 60% of the shots. Against the Mavs, Nash will pass more while Van Excel tends to drive or shoot. You need to watch your matchups, double team from time to time, and switch your defenses. I usually switch between man-to-man, 2-3, and full-court to keep the CPU off its toes.

There are some nights where I get nailed by the PG (Kidd lit me up for 52 points recently) but I find the scoring distribution to be pretty good in this game.

What about PF's? It seems that every game I play the opposing teams PF always grabs at least 13 boards on me no matter who the team is. Does this happen to you guys?
