    Incompetent Passing in 2K3

I absolutely love the 2k series. I've got 2k1 and 2k2 and I believe they are by far the most realistic games out there, however, I've got on major beef with 2k3 that may prevent me from buying it. The passing is terrible. I don't know what maximum passing is and I don't have the book to explain it to me, but I sure hope it can fix some serious nuances. Here's the problem:

    - Players lob the ball constantly...I know you can affect the speed of the pass by how long you hold pass button, but they should make a common sense pass. The lob passes travel slower than physically possibly in many cases.

    - No bounce passes. Where are the bounce passes outside of that measly short, slow bounce pass feeding the post? I don't want to get in to how slow that bounce pass travels.

    - The directional passing is also less accurate than it was in the past. I often times pass to the wrong guy.

Overall, I don't like the responsiveness of the game compared to previous versions. I may not buy it after renting it now. I really can't believe I won't buy a 2k series game this year, but the passing is so frustrating. Am I doing something wrong? I even tried playing as Jason Kidd to see how he'd do, but the passing was still terrible.

I agree that at the default settings the passing sucks big time.

However, go to the options menu and turn maximum passing on. Only then will the length of button-hold affect the speed of the pass (out of the box this feature is turned off for some reason, so while you may think your button holds are doing something, they are not).

Sadly, this doesn't help a whole lot, but it's better than nothing.

As far as directional passing I have always felt it is hopeless in every b-ball game I've ever played. Just use the icon passing. It's worth the time to get used to it if you don't already use it.

In regards to the unresponsiveness, there is nothing you can do. Must have been by choice cuz 2K2 wasn't like that at all (with the exception of the step out from under the basket shot).

Live has it's issues as well, but slow beach-ball passes and unresponsive animations are definitely not among them, so maybe you want to give that a try. As a huge 2K2 fan, I am playing both this year, but definitely enjoying Live a lot more.

Give it a rent and let me know what you think.

yeah the passing was a big turn off for me, one of the main reasons i returned it for LIVE. Some people say the passing in LIVE is too fast but i find it just perfect, especially for running fast breaks.
