Do ratings really have an effect on teams in live 2003...

What i mean is that i read in a review that teams don't really stand out. Like the reviewer said the 29th ranked team could beat the lakers easily if the gamer knew what he was doing.

This was in previous lives well. Teams were easy to beat. They only had losses in their record because the games were simmed.

Is this the case in live 2003 or has anyone noticed anything that strong teams are harder to beat than others.

    Thanks

this is the case in almost all videogames especially if you are playing against the cpu.

The good teams are harder to beat. If you play ANY game long enough you will become good enough to win the vast majority of the time. Remember rankings are based on the ratings of the teams from players 1-12. So, the Lakers may be ranked #1 because of Shaq and Kobe, but player for player, Dallas and Sacto have better teams.

When I play the Lakers, I try to get Shaq in fould trouble because that makes the Lakers one dimensional. They become a jump shooting squad.

When I play Dallas, I make the game a chess match because I know I can't beat them running up and down the floor trying to match baskets.

You'd have to play fantastic to beat the Lakers with, say, Denver.

If you just run and gun, then I agree, no teams are going to stand out, but your odds of winning are severely decreased. But, if you gameplan, utilize your strengths, and attack the CPUs weaknesses, you can win----but it's still damn hard to do.

I think ratings do matter. It's been impossible for me to beat the Lakers on Superstar, while I have one many games against lesser teams.

Hey, the Bulls OWNED the Lakers last season, so anything is possible.

I'm really looking forward to the full version when it ever gets to Australia.

The reviewer must be on crack or he must have been playing on the Starter setting.

This game is sooo hard. The only team i was able to beat was the Memphis Grizzlies. I was using the lakers and beat them by just 4 points.

I'm an NBA LIve veteran i used to destroy the CPU on superstar setting in the past NBA lives.

I agree. live is a SERIOUS challenge on Superstar this year.

The really cool part is that I won my first game on Superstar over 2 weeks ago, yet I still lose more than I win, even playing every day. So, this game will obviously be a challenge for months on end which is exactly what I want when I shell out 60 bucks on a video game.

I don't think this game can be 'mastered' on Superstar level. The CPU is just way too aggressive and capitalize on every single mistake you make.

Yeah. I just won my first game on superstar with the Lakers yesterday by a point after 40 something games. But the great thing was that the game after using the nets, I got absolutely destroyed by 20 points.

                  I love this.

Rating do NOT matter at all in NBA LIVE 2003 especially if you play on the super star level . EVERY player can do a 360 dunk and it is so unrealistic. The CPU player ratings are jacked to the sky on the super star mode, but this does not stop us from scoring well over 100 points per game.
Also, all the teams seem to play the same. This game reminds me of NBA JAM a lot, a fun arcade game, but so unrealistic.

                      You again.......

Yeah the game is unrealistic, but it has some great realistic feature in the gameplay and they make a lot of fun. I say Live 2003 is a wonderful combination of sim and fun.
                      Man I love this game.
