Daniels interested in CLE

The Cavs may be on the verge of another major signing, with point guard Antonio Daniels stating that he would like to return home to Ohio.


''I'm trying to make my decision by the end of this week or the beginning of next week,'' Daniels said. ''I'm interested in Cleveland because I'm from Columbus. Playing close to home would be a great opportunity. Plus LeBron [James] is there and Larry Hughes is there now and Z [Zydrunas Ilgauskas] is still there. That would be a very competitive team in the East.''

As bad as things were looking for the Cavs a month ago, this has been quite a summer for them, thanks in large part to Danny Ferry. Jul. 14 - 12:12 pm et

Hmm, interesting. I watched him play at Bowling Green for 2 years (he was there the same time my wife was), and he was incredible. I would welcome him to Cleveland.

Dam, I was hoping the Heat would somehow be able to get him. If Cleveland gets him, their offseason will have been very successful.

As much as I would love to have Daniels coming to Cleveland, I for some reason doubt that we'll see him in the Wine & Gold. Hopefully I am wrong, but I see him going to Portland to play for Nate.

KDRE for me I'm hesitant to be optimistic. For one, I think we have had a great off-season.

Some Cleveland fans will say that we paid too much for Hughes, or for resigning Z for that matter. I think that Hughes contract was justifiable, as was Z's. Things are going too well for Cleveland fans and I feel that Daniels will probably go to Portland. He has said that he loves the West Coast, and that he wanted to play for Nate again, so I figure that he would probably go that direction.

That being said, if he wants to come to the East, there is no better place than back home in Cleveland. He can flourish alongside LBJ and Hughes. Having Hughes and Daniels guarding the ball would be crazy. I can only imagine how many fast break opportunities we would see per game. Throw Lebron in the mix and you have one of the most athletic/versatile 1, 2, and 3 (respectively) in the game today.

I just don't see it happening for us Cav fans. I'm hoping, but not banking on it.

From the only quotes I've seen, this is the only thing he has clearly stated. I'd like to see this happen. Yes he played great ball under Nate, but the Blazers are an entire different set up than the Sonics.

I wonder what the Cleveland management thinks about this guy

If AD goes to Portland i would be shocked because they already have Point guards there who they would want to give PT to. AD wants to start.

I think it's between LA, the CAV and maybe Miami. I hope he goes for the big market though and being a surefire starter. But if he doesn't we could still get Pargo...sigh

exactly keRplunk. Although we still have money to give, I don't know what he wants. Hopefully playing in Cleveland will be good enough incentive. And playing alongside a studded lineup, he should want to play for free :y4: .

But Seattle fans will probably be upset if he leaves eh?

We will be upset, because he had a career year for us, but I think just about all of us expect him to be someplace else.

We have Ridinour, who will continue to get better. The Sonics have always found and developed solid #2 PGs over the years, we will get another.

I heard a rumor that Cleveland might also be interested in Antoione Walker??
