    Incredible Realism in 2K3

Despite my complaints about the passing in 2K3 and a few other things, I must say that the game is incredibly real. Even when I give up baskets or turn it over or foul someone, I think that I really did do that. I hardly find myself thinking anything in the game is BS. It's frustrating at time and I still think the passing is a major flaw, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. It seems like they made some major changes as compared to 2K1 and 2K2 so I think it should be more polished in 2K4. I'm not sure if I'll even buy 2K3 yet because of the passing problems, but it definitely is realistic.

I have not played NBA 2k3 yet so I cannot comment on the game play. My friend bought NBA LIVE 2003 and I played it and did not like it at all. I would have never even played NBA LIVE 2003 if my friend did not buy it and I will soon rent NBA 2K3 and NBA ID2003 to see if they are good. Have you played NBA ID 2003? If so, could you please comment on the game play?

I have not played ID2003, but I played ID2003 and didn't like it. Something just seemed wrong about it, but from what I've read it sounds like 2003 is much better.

Lightning, I'm gonna make a post about my ID2003 experience soon. In short, rent both.

As for 2k3, what's the problem with the passing. I think it's perfect. It's new and you have to figure it out but once you do it's great. Passes in the post should be lobs or fakes then bounce passes. You use a different passing style when leading a player for an easy lay up or alley oop and only throw bullets when going around the perimeter. I'm glad a game finally got this right.

What worries me about NBA 2K3 is that some feel the game is too easy and I find NBA LIVE 2003 super easy and very unrealistic. I know that NBA 2K3 is more realistic and more challenging than NBA Live 2003, but is it still too easy?

I haven't played Live but from what I've read (my interpretation) it can be pretty difficult on superstar but not b/c the CPU plays better basketball but just are rated higher in everything. In 2k3 they try to play better basketball, but to this point it's not good enough. Hopefully we'll figure out ways to make them play EVEN BETTER basketball to make it more challenging. I think I've won my last 10 games in my bulls franchise and the only move I made was trading Robinson for Fortson.

Well if these games are so easy for people......

I guess you should be blowing away people in games, once "LIVE" is up!

Obviously you guys are playing on Highest level for NBA2k3, with the sliders turned all the way up!

That's not necessarily true (though I hope it is, lol). In some cases you learn to pick your spots but still know exactly how to use a pick or crossover whenever you need it. This won't work against a human. Same with plays...there are some where I can get an alley oop every time but not against a person that will adjust. Same is true for how you play D. I love playin 2k3 against friends b/c it does have that suspense all the way through. But my friends are beatin up on the CPU too so maybe we're all that good.

Or the CPU is just THAT weak.

I'm not putting down 2k3 but just clearing up a misconception. On Superstar Level in Live, the CPU is not rated higher in everything, but does play better basketball. They play better team defense, spread the ball around, and punish you for your mistakes. The CPU gets back on defense and will fast break if you take a bad shot or make a bad pass.
