NJ should have a really good year, once they stay healthy

        Kidd
        Carter
        RJ
        SAR
        Kristic

I can't believe SAR will be getting less $ than Mark Blount did last year.

Focus on this. He might go into the Hall of Fame which would certainly beat the money in the longrun in his mind. He probably wants to win more than he wants to get paid. Might even get better endorsements too if NJ wins. If he starts winning, then they could even roll out big money for my mans to stay there. All in business my boy. All in business. I'm definitely glad for this. Should make an interesting looker for the East. Man, I'm so sorry for the West. They're looking a little weaker nowadays. Maybe I'm just tripping.

Dang, that starting rotation is the class of the East. Size and depth may still be a concern, but NJ is looking damn nice....

Oh my goodness. SAR is freaking getting raped with that contract. Still, that's a solid 38 mil. That's 6 years though. I don't know if I feel happy for him. That is crazy. Then if Portland doesn't agree, they get a 5 year 28 mil. My man SAR is really pushing to get the heck out of dodge for real. I don't know if I praise that or shake my head. He's taking less money to get out. Good example??

Guys take less money to win all the time. See Gary Payton and Karl Malone in Summer 2003.

NJ is very appealing with an emerging big man in Krstic and a solid 1-2-3 punch in Kidd/VC/RJ. For Shareef he can come in as complimentary guy, not THE guy. Hopefully he will excel in this situation.

I expect a SAR/Dooling press conference in the near future for NJ.

Re: NJ close to SAR signing for the MLE

Did somebody say that Shareef Abdur-Rahim might go into the Hall of Fame? The basketball Hall of Fame? Seriously?

Granted, I think he's a solid player, but HOFer? Hells no!!

He is going to be 29 years old this year and has never played a playoff game in his life, and in only 1 all-star game. He's been in the league 9 years, going on 10, and he's never seen the postseason. How does a career 19.8 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 2.1 apg player go to the HOF without ever getting close to tasting the ring?

Like I said, he's a solid player. Better than most out there. But until he proves he's got it in crunch time, he's not going to the Hall.

But back to the topic. This is a great pickup for the Nets. They should be right back near the top of the east again with this move. If everyone stays healthy all year, including the playoffs, they could challenge Detroit, Miami, and Indy to get to the Finals.
