    Re: Rockets get Stro

Rockets allowed the fewest points in the paint last year...look for that to be continued this year..maybe by a greater margin too. Juwan Howard is not the most athletic or best shot blocker out and they managed that...now with a shot blocker with stros athletic ability...scary...

      Re: Rockets get Stro

Well, that's because they didnt have a true defensive PF, so anytime someone drove to the lane, the entire team would pack it in, sounds great...................

      but.............

That's where the perimete problems came in at. They had issues with perimeter defense for that very reason. Look at the playoffs. HOU got murdered from the outside, ala jason terry. One reason was old slow short guards, the other was things like Yao having to chase guards around the perimeter because of that missing PF, and more variables.

JVG is a very nice defensive coach no doubt, and HOU did a great job considering what they had they were in the top 3 for defense last year.

        I'm a little confused here.

        Help me out.

The Rockets picked up Stromile Swift and everybody thinks it's a good signing.

The Lakers picked up Kwame Brown and they get ripped for it.

Stromile Swift #2 overall pick in 2000
        00-01 4.9 PPG 3.6 RPG 16.4 MPG
        01-02 11.8 PPG 6.3 RPG 26.5 MPG
        02-03 9.7 PPG 5.7 RPG 22.1 MPG
        03-04 9.4 PPG 4.9 RPG 19.8 MPG
        04-05 10.1 PPG 4.6 RPG 21.3 MPG
        Career 9.0 PPG 5.0 RPG 21 MPG

Kwame Brown #1 overall pick in 2001
        01-02 4.5 PPG 3.5 RPG 14.3 MPG
        02-03 7.4 PPG 5.3 RPG 22.2 MPG
        03-04 10.9 PPG 7.4 RPG 30.3 MPG
        04-05 7.0 PPG 4.9 RPG 21.6 MPG
        Career 7.7 PPG 5.50 RPG 20 MPG

They are basically the same player. Swift averages a little more points, but Kwame averages a little more rebounds in roughly the same amount of minutes. Only difference is Swift played a year of college and came into the NBA a year earlier. Kwame came into the NBA straight out of HS.

Kwame was #1 overall and he's considered a bust and won't do anything with LA, Swift was #2 overall (a year earlier) and his NBA performance is equal to that of Kwame's but he's gonna help the Rockets??

        Explain this to me?

It's a legitimate question. Maybe you, being a TMac fan and all, can answer.

Why is Swift gonna be the Rockets answer while Brown is gonna be a bust? What is so different about the two?

Seriously, they are the same player.

It's quite simple look at the 2000 draft. and look at the 2001 draft the 2000 draft was weaker then the 2001 draft. i guarantee if it would had been swift in the 2003 draft he doesn't go number 2. Kwame's draft had alot of talent so thats why i think people would consider him a bust considering all the talent in that draft

The rockets didn't trade away their third best, possibly second best player for him.

I do believe the draft Swift was in was weak...and Kwame is 7'0....Stro Is 6'9...
