    DBF EDITOR

Just in case anyone is interested, here is a link to download a DBF editor so you can experiment with your Live 2003 demo: DBF EDITOR
This worked well for me in Live 2001, try it in 2003 and see if this works, I dont have excel so this is my alternative route.

i'm with you guys. i still think LIVE 2000 (pc) is the best game EVER made. it's going to be interesting to see if this game lives up to expectations...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I agree! NBA Live 2000 is the best, with every feature we want, like in-game save and replay save..Gameplay is solid too.

i'd be happy if they kept the gameplay like live 2000 pc and added fast breaks! Keep the features that were in live 2000 pc and put it in a box and call it live 2003--I'd be happy!

But, I'm still excited bout Nov.13th.

              Re: DBF EDITOR

i have just edited the DBF file by this editor. Lower the FG% by 30 , 3FG% by 20, block by 30 ,steal by 35 (I don't want too many steals), speed and quick by 10, dunk by 15
It works! Gameplay became more realistic, no more crazy turn around 3 or crazy dunks in traffic. I played 10 games and only get 2 steals per game(I passed the ball carefully).
and also 2 blocks per game. but i don't always go for block because i decreased the FG%. They can't make every open shots. If the ball goes in, it should! Sometimes they even miss open 3 .. That's realistic... with default rating, they are shooting 99% of open 3....

I love the new game... I can't put it down!!!

In original game, superstar level, CPU gives great pressure on you because if you miss they are DEFINITELY going to fastbreak and score. And you are going to lose by a lot of points.
But now , everything has changed.. you can have fun with freestyle control, try Kobe fadeways, alley-oops, anything you want. You won't have that much pressure because if you miss the shot and they get the rebound, they are also possible to miss the shot if you play good D.. Both teams shoot at around 50%...that's awesome!!!

Does anyone know how to change an entire column's numbers without having to go to every player. ie:FGBASE or DUNKABILITY. I cant change the entire column but have to go to each players FGBASE and lower it.
Although this is not a problem with the demo, since its onl 2 teams, but when the final game is released I need to know beforhand.

If you're using excel, you can just apply a formula to each column.

I,m not using excel but the CDBF editor. Do you know what i would have to use in that progam? I'm gonna check the help file to find out also, but we all know how complicated help files can be.

hoopscity, how do you do a formula in excel? So with this you can do a whole column with this formulas?

                              Re: DBF EDITOR

What i did was go to the first empty column (should be HP), and in cell 2 entered "=AY2-20", AY being the column for FGPBASE (Field Goals) and 2 being the first player row (Shaq). That formula subtracts 20 from the value.

Once you enter the formula, you should see the new value (79, in this case) in the new cell (HP2). select the cell, then copy the contents. Click and drag to select cells HP3 through HP31. Right Click and select "Paste Special". Then change the paste from "All" to "Formulas" and click "Okay". So there you have the new values.

Now select HP2 though HP31 and cut the contents and paste them over the FGPBASE column (AY2-AY31). Then save the file and you should be good to go. Repeat as necessary for the rest of the columns you want to edit.

Remember that the base values in the DBF file are different than the values that appear in the game. The in game ratings range from 50-99. To convert the base rating to the in-game rating, you need to divide the base rating by 2 and add 50. To convert in-game rating to base rating, you subtract 50 and multiply by 2.

So Shaq's FGPBASE is 99, so his in-game FG rating is:

                              (99/2) + 50 = 49.5 + 50 = 99.5, or 99.

If you want to reduce his in-game FG by 10, then:

                              99-10 = 89
                              (89-50) * 2 = 39 * 2 = 78 FGPBASE

One last thing, be careful when editing DBF files with excel. Any invalid values or extra columns can cause the game to crash. Also, be sure to keep the file in DBF format. If you screw up, you can re-copy the players.dbf file from the game directory.

                              Hope this helps.
