all of their ratings have become lower. and players older. result: i'm ranked 28th in the league. and i've been struggling to win. my record now stands at 4-5.
if these guys kept on playin after their 6th championship, they probably looked like this. read on
HARPER - rated 73. still decent. can still bring up the ball and can still drill the open three. but he's slower, less active, and he's having a hard time matching up with the other PG's in the league (cant guard Bibby, Fisher, etc enough). sometimes i have to use MJ and whoever is quick/fast enough to guard the opposing PG.
JORDAN - new overall rating 89. last season i edited the Wiz MJ to a 96 overall rating. this season he's also slowed down.from last season's 93 quickness, he's now just an 86. speed 89 (from 92). FG 90 (98) Inside scoring 82 (85). i could not make him drive to the hoop as much as before. no more spectacular dunks. the turnaround fadeaways have not been consistent. and he's now easily blocked. i've had to make him dribble his way to a free shot and make him drain tough jumpers (a FG 90 is still good enough). he has had to carry this team. he's still a force on offense. i had to score about 50 with him for us to win.
PIPPEN - this is the missing link. the biggest bomber of them all. from last season's overall rating of 82 the player who was once voted as one of the 50 greatest players is now just a 77!!! take a look at his ratings. quickness from 81 to 72!! speed from 83 to 75!! FG 79. Inside 74. he's just not reliable on offense anymore. cant be the second option on offense. so MJ has had to average abot 45 ppg so far. and he cant run the way he used to so i can hardly get my transition offense going (which was once my strength as a team. but thats gone now. so are the victories ) and i cant use the freestyle with him anymore! he loses the ball! there goes my primary ballhandler. BUT! he's still on the floor for his Defense. and i manage to get him to average this season barely 17 ppg (normally i could get about 28 pts from this guy) by posting him up giving him screens passing to him on cuts, he can still hit some threes and he's still getting some calls and gets to the FT line. still i cant count on him on offense anymore. problem.
RODMAN - overall 75. 79 last year. still my main man on the boards. last year he averaged 14.7 rpg. so far he's averaged 12.3 rpg. he's still a monster on the offensive boards a vital thing in this game, considering the difficulty of grabbing OR's this year. but he wastes some of them coz he just cant make the follow-ups. still i love grabbing boards with this guy and he's next to Mj to minutes played. still effective i guess.
LONGLEY - he probably would not be starting right now if they kept on playing. Phil Jacklson might have started some younger center he acquired (notice how Phil loves getting PF's and C's?) but i still start him because he passes well in the Triangle, drills open jumpers, blocks some shots and draws the charges on the big men (thank god for the take-charge button). he's a 72 right now.
KUKOC - still my sixth man. rated 76 now from 79. sometimes he's been more reliable on offense than Pippen because he can hit the threes and the open jumpers. and he's very effective when i use him at the Center position. he still has enough quickness to move around other centers in the league. he's 6-11 so he can rebound. and he can still pass, specially on the post within the triangle. if i decide to keep him in the future, he just might take over Pip's starting spot.
KERR - he's now a moserable 69. he's just too slow that he's a big liability on defense specially vs the quick PG's. but he can still surely hit the three, and he's been effective in draining that shot on kickouts from MJ, Pip, and whoever's posting up. thats why he still gets some minutes. but i'm thinking of trading him already for a quicker PG who can still drill the 3 and can still balls. Lindsay Hunter?
C.ALEXANDER - this is my pick-up. MJ may have picked him up too if he kept on playing after 1998. though his ratings have lowered to 76 from 78, he's a vital part of my bench. because he's the only one on my team other than MJ i can use on transition. plus he can score on his own. he's had double digit games in about 2 games already i believe. thats impt coz i am really struggling to find a consistent 2nd option on offense. plus he's also one of the quicker members of my team so i make him guard the quicker players when MJ or Harper sits down.
i've really been struggling to win. and i'm thinking of tinkering with my rosters.
what do you guys think should this Bulls team do to get back into competition? what would you have had Jerry Krause do back in 98? would you start rebuilding also and trade away some key players as he did?
For me, i would like to keep my nucleus of MJ-Pip-Rodman intact for as long as i could. but now, PIp has been a big frustration for me that i'm thinking of trading him already. i keep him on
the team and on the floor for sentimental reasons becasue Scottie Pippen played a big role in those 6 chamionships, and i owe him.
what do you guys think?
Bulls fans, speak up!
