    Share your players.dbf

Can someone please upload their edited players.dbf file to a website to share? I think a lot of people would be interested including me. If you have a players.dbf with reduced speed and reduced steals please upload it somewhere for all to use and tell what the file does exactly. How do I edit to make less steals? There are categories SSTEALS, DSTEALS, and PSTEALS. What does each affect? Also how to do away with the one quarter time limit?

Thanks, I basically took JasonLin's suggestions and tweaked them a little--I'm still tweaking . But I wanna keep the tweaks simple because when the full version comes out it'll be a little harder to tweak.

                Re: Share your players.dbf

I'm gonna try em when I get off work tonite.
When i made a few changes myslelf to the DBF file I realized that this game has got mad potential. I'm pretty sure that someone will make the proper modifications that the majority of players will use so I cant wait.
This will be a ultimate BBall game when evrything is fixed.
Everyday i play it and I can just picture it. All of that stuff in MT-Nuts thread will be completly easier to do with the PC version. I own the PS2 version but I really did'nt have the Time to fix everyones roster. I really wanted to but it was just to much loading between players.
oh yea, one thing I noticed is that you only need to fix the starting fives rosters since they are the only ones playing in 4 minutes.

                    Re: Share your players.dbf

Well, i received a DBF file just now. I tried...it still makes me frustrated... Now i am satisfied with the steals and blocks, the CPU seldom steals me or blocks me if i play smartly, don't make stupid shots and passes. But the FG% is still too high.. They are definitely going to score when they are in the paint, there is no way to stop them except go for block. Both teams' FG% are over 70%. 3 pt % is very nice now. The player can miss a lot of 3pt but sometimes they will be on fire..just like in the real game. I think O'neal jumps too high.. He can't jump that high in the real game. It seems that DBF file is not doing a lot of effects in the Demo, i don't know if the full version will....

I truly hope EA can release an official patch to fix all these sh!ts....

There is something that is hard to achieve. Thanks to the freestyle control, we had unprecedented fun of offense in b-ball games. because of that, we are going to have troubles, all the moves and shots became unpredictable and it's a big challenge to play defense.
However I believe all these things can be fixed by AI adjustments. The offensive AI in 2003 is too aggressive.... I hope EA is going to rewrite the AI programme again.. in order to find a balance between O and D.....

hmnnn..well in my games-the cpu has shot 40-55% (which is better than 65-80%) and I've been shooting around 60%--the lowest was maybe 45%--i will keep testing though

Wait until the full version, because the DEMO plays like it's set to arcade mode. Then we can truly see for ourselves.

Exactly, the demo must be in simulation(arcade) mode and thats the reason why they are so aggresive going to the hole.
I dont even attemp to play defense on the demo.

                            Re: Share your players.dbf

You might want to try lowering the inside scoring rating as well. Also, once you get better at defense, the percentages should become a bit more accurate.

I'm working on a system of generating player ratings based on their current season vs. career stats. A players ratings will be based on their career stats and increase/diminish based on how they are doing in the current season compared to their career stats.

For example, if MJ's stats are 20% down from his career avg, he will be penalized in ratings. Or JRich shows a 20% improvement from last season, he will receive a bonus to his ratings. The stats will be normalized by calculating their production per 48 minutes, and not their total production.

It's pretty complicated, but I think it should produce more accurate ratings than what EA has... some of the players are rated way too high compared to others. I hope this system will widen the gap a bit between the star players and the scrubs...

I'll keep you posted and describe the system in more detail once I figure out the whole thing. Once the game comes out, I will adjust the rosters according to the system and make them available on my website for download.

Nice Hoopscitylive, saves me from having to do it.
Is this the rosters that everyone in your league will be using?
If it is, GREAT. that will make for some nice games.
I joined your league alredy and I bet once I play someones gonna rate me with good defense. I pride myself for 'D'.
Also, I know your the Commish and all, but will you also be playing?
