That move to New Orleans was doomed from the get go... David Stern knew it was a mistake which was why Charlotte was awarded another team so quickly. I think St. Louis or Kansas City would be the best alternative... Frankly, I've always wondered why there's no NBA presence in those cities.

I am kind of hoping for a Louisville KY team... I think we cuold fill the stadiums. But who knows. There isn't much of a chance of that happening though.

They would play at Freedom Hall, right? I don't know if that's been upgraded to be an NBA-caliber arena (suites, skyboxes, all that crap)... How old is that place, anyway?

KC was home to the Kansas City/Omaha then later just Kansas City Kings. The last few years the team was pretty bad and the club was sold to investors in Sacramento. They played a lame duck season with very little attendance.

As for STL. It was a very solid NBA city (i'd like the NBA to go back there) They were home to the St. Louis Hawks. The club was a very good club as well. The club was in STL from '55-'68. The only reason they left STL was because the owner at the time sold the team to a Georgia real estate investor and the former governor of ATL.

So with all the above in mind i'd love to see a team in St. Louis.

Good look with the info, man....

Both cities have arenas that I think could be viable NBA venues, Kansas City having Kemper Arena, and St. Louis, the Kiel Center (?) where the Blues play hockey, along with St. Louis University. It will be interesting to see what transpires, because either way, the Hornets will not be long for New Orleans...

                it's the SAVVIS Center now.

The reason we probably won't get a team is because our market is deemed too small to have all four major sports here.

And you know, our fans are already some of the most faithful (if not the most) in sports, so their money is already all wrapped up in Blues, Freds (won't call them the Rams again until they have a winning year), and the Cards.

I think if the NHL would've folded, then the NBA would've come here soon enough.

wtferrel and sportsman bring up good points re: NBA cities. I'd much rather the NBA have teams in St. Louis, Kansas City and Louisville than to expand to overseas cities. Thoses cities have history with the NBA/ABA and is only fitting that they have NBA teams there.
