NBA 2k3 --- Great presentation, but gameplay really better?
Like I said, the much better roster updates, more accurate salary cap system, great stuff. In-game though, I dunno. Firstly there is the substitution screen ---- no way of getting other than overall ratings. You basically have to memorize what all your players have, and have no way of knowing the full effect of the 'biorythms' though admittedly thats a cool feature. Next there is the AI. Now its not EASY by any means all the all-pro level, but at the same time once you figure it out, its not that difficult either. The thing I have an issue with the most though is the offensive play. Last year there were though many things you could do. The biggest difference being that when posting up you could either do a drop step, or if your player was much stronger than the defender, you could just power down to the basket and dunk on them. This year however, that is completely gone. This basically Limits offensive attacking to drop step moves, and crossovers and spin moves --- basically making the Handle rating the most important one there is. Even with PFs or Cs crossovers are the most effective. I can only assume they thought the expanded post game made it too easy to score --- and they may be right. However simply removing it, in my view takes away from the overall experience. This is still the best basketball game this year, don't get me wrong --- but because of this just doesn't feel better in all aspects. Oh and did I mention the 'key zoom' camera feature doesn't even work? Find myself squinting to see action under the basket, and misjudging layups, causing the player to pull up and miss a 4 foot jump shot.Tags: None -

they did tweak post ability by not allowing poor post players to dominate just because they are big. I see alot more use of positioning the post then trying a move than backing a man down straight to the basket, not to bash NBA live but I backed my defender down from the three point line with Rasheed Wallace, not saying he isn't a good post player but strength wise and rule wise this should not happen. Another thing I notice was that if your post man is posting up and while the pass to the post is in the air you switch to that man and hold L1 catch the ball and hold it with both hands instead of automatically dribbling it. From that position u can do a nice drop stepComment
