Mavs now 10-0 and showing no signs of slowing down

Nash got the best of Kidd tonight with 30 points. Shawn Bradley - that's right, Shawn Bradley - completely dominated Mutombo, Finley ignited the Mavs early, and Dirk Nowitski struggled offensively but played great defense and hit a key three-pointer late to ice the game.

I didn't think they'd survive this tough East-coast trip undefeated with back-to-backs at Boston and Jersey. They did, and in impressive fashion, beating the crap out of the Celtics, then staving off a good game from the Nets tonight.

The most impressive thing to us Mavs fans is that they're doing this with defense. After frustrating Boston to a poor shooting night last night, they had key steals and key blocks tonight against New Jersey.

With a Shaq-less Laker team in three days coming to Dallas, and a outmanned Rockets teams two days later, 12-0 looks likely.

And this is with LaFrentz and Van Exel out for another month at least.

    Nice job, Mavs.

yikes! those guys are looking sick. I watched some of the game against the celtics, they looked totally unstoppable on offense. I'll admit it, i'm not looking forward to the Lakers playing them without Shaq, it could be REAL UGLY.

If Shaq gets healthy and loses that weight, the Lakers will be the team to beat. Dallas fans are not fooling themselves.

But Wednesday could indeed be ugly. Better kick em when they're down.

oh yeah, of course, that's what i meant. When Shaq comes back we'll be ready to roll and will be able to handle Dallas, but without him..... eh......

Yeah...but I'm starting to get that feeling that I got when the Cowboys won their Superbowls in the '90's. This might be the year!!!

The Rockets game will be interesting to see, since the Rockets have matched up very well with the Mavs over the past couple of seasons and they're improving this year. In fact, IIRC, the Mavs haven't actually beaten the Rockets in a season series in a good while, even when the Rockets are stinking it up against other teams. I think Dallas will win the game but they shouldn't let their guard down.

duh! All though i will say, if we had to play a whole season without Shaq, then the team would've being retooled around Kobe, and we would still be a solid contender.

Yeah...solid contender for the 8th spot. I'm not saying that Dallas is on a lucky streak right now, cuz they are playing well, but it won't last. Once the Lakers and Kings get back to full strength, nobody will care what the Mavericks did. Dallas will be a second-round playoff team this year again, they'd be very lucky to get by LA or Sacramento. We'll see though, I guess that's why they play the season first eh?

I love this mavs team. I can't wait to see how they fare in the playoffs because i can guarantee a 82-0 regular season.

82-0 regular season. . . hehe. That would be cool. I doubt it, but cool nonetheless.

The allas Mavericks D is finally starting to work. They have been extremely impressive in what they have been doing. When their offense slumps, which isn't often, their D seems to be holding its own and keeps them in the games. Very nice team. They have everything that they could need to make a championship run. They have 3 great players, All-Stars even, a very deep bench (when healthy), and an amazing coach that uses everything to create mismatches and matchups to their favor.

As for the Lakers, ya, the Lakers do suck without Shaq. They basically are the Golden State Warriors, or worse yet, like the Memphis Grizzles without Shaq. But that kinda is to be expected. The team was built around Shaq. He eats up 1/3 of their salary cap. He is the most dominate force in bball. Just like if TMac is gone from the Magic, that team would suck. But at least when Hill was hurt, TMac still had Mike Miller and a bunch of players put together that helped HIM out. Who does Kobe got? Fisher, Fox, Horry, George, Madsen? Those guys are all scrubs who would be deep on the bench of another squad. Just wait till Shaq gets back at 100%. Then its on. He'll be back, hopefully, for the 12th game of the Lakers season against the Bulls. Look for the team to go 70-0 thru the rest of the season.

                        Ya, I know, wishful thinking.

LOL! That sounds like something i'd say. But seriously, i can't wait for the big fella to get back, we have some teams to pay back.

It would've been interesting to see how Yao would've played against a healthy Shaq. Skillz, do you know how many times the rockets will be playin' the Lakers the rest of the way?

The Rockets play the Lakers 3 more times. 2 times in Houston and one more in LA. That's how it generally works. West teams play each other 4 times total, and they play east teams twice. Games are split on the courts.

The east teams are a little different, since there are an odd number of teams. I believe some of them play each other only 3 times (same conference) and some play 4 times. They all still play the west 2 times each.

I think if Shaq played against Yao Ming, he would have broken him in 2. Ming would have fallen back harder than when Starbury crossed him over. I guess we'll have to wait till the next meeting to see. Here are the next 3 times they meet this year.
