    ID atmosphere...

    I have made three positive posts here for ID2002 and 2003...so here comes my first negative one. I love the game and the AI is superb, but what about the atmosphere...it just seems very tame. It's the one thing lacking. The crowds are dull, no weekly news etc...and the play offs seem to be just abother game.

    The reason I mention 2002 also is that, I just simmed ahead a season and then played game 7 of the NBA Finals...Sac v Philly...Philly won and the commentator said in two seconds "NBA Champions"...and that was it. NOTHING else. Nothing. No ring ceremony...no celebrations...no special commentary...nothing.

    Very dissapointing.

    I am loving ID2003...but i REALLY hope it has something more than that at the end of the season. I like to keep it a surprise...so I haven't simmed it yet. However, as I am curious, does anyone know?

    NBA2K3 has it's faults...but it kills ID for atmosphere...which is important for a long season.

      I agree, Thats the reason I traded ID2003 for NBA2K3 because 2K3 has better atmosphere. ID2003 is easy to pick up and play. NBA2K3 was very difficult for me until I learned the game play.

          Yeah its to bad the crowd is so blah but i put it past me...The number 1 thing i care about is the gameplay..and since the gameplay outshined 2k3 IMO i took back nba 2k3 and got ID..FOr me I needed something different..2k3 was the same as 2k2 for me,which was a little better than 2k1..Yes the crows are alot better in 2k3 but gameplay bores me...I think the Comentary is better in id2003 then it is in 2k3..2k3 comentary seems like it just got ported over IMO

          SO i know both have their ups and downs but i am happy with ID..I can live with the sound

              You can improve the crowd volume by lowering the sliders for the commentary + other sound effects and raise the sliders for music and crowd. Then turn up the main volume so that the commentary is the same level as before. You should now have a louder crowd with more atmosphere. It worked for me anyway

                  its not volume of the crowd its the participation of them what is lacking..its like they are bored..I have my crowd crancked up too..I play on a 5.1 dolby digital sytem so i welcome the noisel

                      I agree that the rowd participation sucks. But it doesn't really bother me...it would be better if there as more particpation, but whatever. They definitely need a better ending, ring ceremony, MVP, etc... The All-Star Game, and Playoffs/Finals should have the crowd getting crazy! Chanting all types of things: DEFENSE! or LETS GO ???? LETS GO! or even BEAT LA! So although it doesn't annoy me a whole lot...it still does kinda. And the announcers need to have more enthusiasm I guess if someone hits a game-winning shot or if a team wins the championship...

                          Your right...the crowd seems bored.

                          The main thing that dissapointed me was the post championship stuff. Well, the lack of stuff.

                          I used Detroit for my season and just missed the pay off's on all star. I thus simmed a new season and took control of Sacramento in the deciding game v Philly...so as to see what happens at the end of ID2002.

                          The game ended and there was a VERY quick line of 'NBA champions" and nothing else. Nothing. It went into the same post game who played well etc as every game...and then simply finished.

                          It was a major let down. I am embarking on a full 2003 season at the moment and it will be dissapointing if that's all that awaits.

                          There 100% should be extra things when you make a game like that. I made the super bowl in madden 2003 and the extra commentary + trophy presentation was very cool...even though I lost.
