    Shaq adds 15 pounds .....

    of 'muscle'

Shaq says he's been working out twice a day in the offseason and currently weighs 340 pounds, about 15 pounds more than his playing weight of a year ago. And all that new weight is muscle.
"I was an earthling last season," Shaq said in reference to his strength level. "I had to go back to my alien roots."
    oh really

As teammate Alonzo Mourning noted, "He didn't have to lift any weights. All he has to do is show up on the block."
    exactly

By putting additional strain on limbs and digits that are already taking a pounding from his lumbering mass every night, it's not clear that he's lessened his injury risk. For proof, look no further than last season's failure against Detroit, when Shaq's leg problems were a major factor.

Im sorry I had to bring this up but didnt Riles want him to keep his weight down??? Didnt shaq say that he lost weight because he was asked to by Riles...and that the people in LA NEVER wanted him to loss weight???

Last year he looked the best he has looked in 3 years so why change that??? wasn't it his weight that kept his injury from healing as quickly as it should???

Is this good or bad for the Heat? I say bad, cause I have seen recent pics of Shaq and it looks like he is back to his old tricks thats all i got to say.

if he got stronger wouldnt it make him less injury prone. i think its a good thing because if he was unstoppable last year imagine what he will do this year.

Strength and Muscle mass(weight) isnt the same thing...

Thats the thing, he played really well last year and if it wasnt for injury he would have gotten the MVP... so why change that???? Adding 15 pounds isnt going to make Shaq better or less injury prone trust me

If he balanced out working his upper body and lower body, then there should be no problem. If his upper body gets substancially bigger than the lower part, then he may be more susceptable to injuries.

          15 extra pounds for Shaq..

Thats like him doing curls with his pinky twice a day.

Now his pinky is twice the size it was from last year (hence the extra 15 pounds)

hmm. i used to love shaq and all, but i hope he gets injured due to his weight. i also hope his career must come to an early end. so i, in fact do care about this little piece of news.

Wow can you say bitter? It was not Shaqs fault that your stupid GM decided to stick with Kobe. Shaq wanted to stay.

But wishing injury on a player because simply hes not on your team anymore...thats pathetic.

Hope Karma bites you in the ***. Bynum will become the next Oliver Miller.

hear me out yall. shaq played just as big a role in his trade (he simply didnt want to get in shape, as well as called out his owner) as kobe, cupcake, and crazy ole buss. like i said before, when shaq was here, it was all love. but the jabs hes taken at kobe over the years, have been completely uncalled for.

Shaq only spoke the truth about Kobe. We all know that. Phil even admitted to that.

But that still doesnt explain why you want to wish him physical injury. I feel a little jealousy that Shaqs Heat has been to the playoffs, whereas Kobe's Lakers have been a lottery team.

he did speak the truth. my point was that shaq had just as big an ego as kobe. anyways lets not go down the millenium lakers route.

lol. no jealously from over here. i have been the first to admit that lakers management has almost sabatoged their organization. my comment was said in a knee jerk reaction to the title of "shaq adds 15 pounds". prolly should have kept it to myself, the dudes lovable (besides the kobe factor) i wouldnt want him outta the league.

i dunno if anyone really cares, but i'm just pointing out my initial reaction and doubt that his added weight is "muscle"

if it is more muscle weight then, good for him!
